It really comes down to the mic that you plug into the camera.

It would do the job, you might also want to consider just a simple point and shoot camera with HD video. A Canon IXUS like I use would do the job just fine, this camera is more important if a long optical zoom is required.

For your first camcorder it would be a great option. Just make sure you shop around to get the best price.

Hi John, you're right, I didnt do an instructional video, I did a review. A review is a compilation of my thoughts on the camera. For a look at how to use it and navigate the menu's you will need to search for those accordingly.

For vloggers this camera will do a pretty good job, just make sure you play with the settings so it does focus on you properly. It wont come with an SD card but a 16 or 32GB card would be more than enough. You could record in 1080p but remember that you are vlogging. Most people will be viewing your videos at a much smaller res. I record at 720p, quality is great and it takes up far less space. The microphones are stereo so you should be fine there also.Let me know when you do your first VLOG!

for me, it wasnt hard to consider returning the device, it all depends what is important to you mate. You could always keep it and just buy another lens later :)

This would do the job but you have to also consider just a simple digital camera, my Canon IXUS camera is what I use for every review and it does a great job. For KZbinrs stating out I think a simple camera is fine, after that you would move to a DSLR.

I agree, the DSLR would no doubt take better footage, new lenses can make huge differences to the filming experience too. Worth the change.

It's just a Canon IXUS portable camera and yes the audio is from that camera.

You can get these for £30. I was thinking of one. But may not. I think the IS is really poor. Colour isn't too bad, not great but some post CC would fix it. Don't these have a bespoke codec?

It would be ok BUT you could buy an external mic and plug it into this camera which is unseen in a lot of cameras in this price range. I hope this helps!

You might have to have a class 6 or higher for higher quality it was the same for one of my other cameras and you change the quality in the settings i think?

There may be an aftermarket lens that you can "bolt on" but none that I have seen.

i have this camera and im really satisfied with like you said for the price it is it really does do a good job i also this with this camera like most it depends how your lighting is the better the lighting the better your results will be :)

No idea, havent tested the Canon. If zoom isnt important to you then a point and shoot camera might be better than the X400.

The X400 would be ok for filming cars racing etc but you may want to spend a bit extra and get a higher quality/ higher framerate camera. It will do the job I guess but wouldnt be my first choice for high speed movement.

Hey, i'm about to buy this camera to start vlogging, i figured it'd to the trick to start off with. I figured that this, like most things won't come with an SD card, what would be a good SD to start off with for not much money? Honestly, the camera on phones today would do a better job. Honestly though if you're doing skate videos then get a GoPro or Sony ActionCam. Worth the investment.

I want to start making sketches or short stories for KZbin and I was wondering if this would be a scent enough camera to use. I am only 15 so I can't get a jobs for another year, this obviously means I don't have much income (apart from what I get for doing odd jobs). Personally, I preferred the quality from the point and shoot camera used to make this video. It was a Canon IXUS and could be bought for less than $200 easily.

I have not heard of interpolated but I have heard of interlaced. If you want to follow my advice STAY WELL AWAY FROM INTERLACED. Usually with interlaced footage there are a lot of artifacts and many televisions and all computers do not support this type of footage meaning you can get artifacts and a slower framerate.

Hoenstly, a digital compact camera will do the job just fine. A canon point and shoot will nowadays shoot full HD video. Look at iJustines vlog channel, almost all done on her iPhone or a Canon compact camera, this camera just isnt amazing.
