The Background in the stages look lackluster compared to BAT2

True. They put more effort into making the port of the first game look good but in URA it's mostly just a single flat background. There are some notable exceptions though. Rungo's desert stage does look very nice. Clever with making the background have a visual heat distortion effect. Duke and Mondo's stage backgrounds are not special, but the use coloring in it to mimic light sourcing is. It isn't very noticeable in this video footage but on a CRT tv it was very noticeable. Replicant's stage background use of the aurora and it being reflected in the water is nice. Sofia's stage could have been better. In the hidden options you can turn on lighting effects for her stage and it will make the character's upper half light up and switch colors along with the constantly color changing stage lights, while the glowing floor will shade the character's feet with blue light.
