Looks like a great university with a broad based curriculum. Everything looks so brand new. Does this university have other campuses in other cities in Nigeria, like Abuja or Lagos? Thanks for the tour, Bigwillz, really enjoyed it.👍

Kia Bigwillz you too much woo bringing memories from Yola for me. It was in Yola in 1987 where I started applying for College tennis 🎾 scholarship to travel to United States of America. Omo that time there wasn’t cell phones, KZbin or internet. Na through post office I kept sending applications and had to wait for months before I hear back. My Scholarship offer letter, admission letter & Form i -20 for student Visa arrived in December 1988. I departed January 1989. I Love ❤Yola!!

@Abdul. I beat you to this country by a decade. It wasn't easy in those days as a newly arrived person in the US, but at the same time it was heady, fun, beautiful and wonderful times!! Unlike now where you wouldn't catch me anywhere near a Salvation Army store, in those days that was how l and other international students outfitted ourselves. All you can carry of used clothing, no charge. Student housing in the huge universities in the Midwest was so nice, beautiful and serene, with international students from all around the globe. Beautiful times! But I spent my first 6 months missing my country. The Nigeria I left in 1978 was a great country compared to what it is now. Thanks Bigwilz for this beautiful video. Great job!!

Very common grammatical mistake that some Nigerians make. When you say some of the …. (it must be followed by plural NOT singular). For example, your tour guide said “Some of the research”. He should have said some of the researches. Finally, we have very nice, well-equipped, safe, well-staffed institution in Nigeria.

No!!! This is not quite as clearcut as you think. It all boils down to whether a particular noun is truly countable or not. "Research" is mostly considered uncountable in the English language. You say to your friend: "how MUCH research did you undertake on this topic?" and not "how MANY researches...". Therefore, "some of the research.." is absolutely fine while "some of the researches", although not strictly grammatically wrong, is quite unusual. Now, consider this: do you say "some of the water.." or "some of the waters.."??? The whole issue of count vs non-count nouns is rather complex when applied to abstract nouns that are mostly considered "mass nouns" but can also be considered countable in some specific situations.
@user-yz8jj2gu7h
@user-yz8jj2gu7h 7 ай бұрын
@@alibra038 You’re missing the point. Take the context of the sentence into consideration. The guide pointed to what I believe was a poster containing information on a research or researches that are being carried out or have been carried out in the university. Under that CONTEXT, it is countable. He could have said, this is one or these are two or more of the whatever number of research projects being carried out in the university. For example, you can say last year the school completed 10 researches. I recommend that you should just make your comment and not to go nuts.

@user-yz8jj2gu7h I am not trying to imply that no problem exists here 😊😁. However, my point is that even after you take into account that the man may be referring to several pieces of research on disparate topics, it's still absolutely FINE to use "research" in its non-count. This is because in English, the word "research" is just used that way, 99.99% of the time. Some English words just resist being put into the plural form, sometimes for no apparent reason. I will give some examples - equipment, furniture, etc. You can have several pieces of furniture but you still use furniture and not furnitures! The same applies to equipment as well. Several universities may come together to conduct research on various topics. Of course, if the man had said something like: "some of the student...", that's obviously grammatically wrong. What I am saying is that your point is only universally applicable to some words.

It's better than using it to buy houses abroad like Tinubu's son who bought a house of over 5b in London. If they should all invest the stolen funds in Nigeria, Nigeria wouldn't be this economically broken.

Why are they calling it American tho? As an African American who is extremely proud of my African ancestry like most black Americans, why not make it uniquely African Nigerian? Why do my people continuously try to emulate and prop up colonial Nigeria when African Nigeria has a vast history and present to be proud of? Already still speaking English and government still wearing those silly blonde British wigs? Do we have any self respect or dignity? Smh

I understand your concern and share the same feelings with you on some of these things. Correct me if I'm wrong, I don't know if they can change the name as there are several all over the world with the same name. I think it has to do with franchise.
