Self-D has been in several recently streamed games. What is the issue? I doubt its a shortcut key issue.

Ctrl - C is one of the more commonly pressed hotkeys; I imagine that's the issue

Ctrl C is close to Ctrl D. If you have unit sounds off you won't hear the countdown, and if you have lots of other things coming up in notifications, you won't see the countdown either.
