The thing about this game - everyone comparing it to supreme commander - this was years before supreme commander. Like a decade before! This is the game Supreme Commander wanted to be the updated version of and what I instantly thought of when I first played Supreme Commander. TA is such an amazing game - where unlike most strategy games at the time, it literally was just STEAMROLLER! You had a huge variety of units; from air, land and sea - and you had to plan ahead with your resources on most maps. The campaign may not have been that great but the skirmishes and the multiplayer? That was where you learnt the real meaning of RTS! Brilliant game - even today, in my eyes.

The thing about SC and TA is they are developed by the same developer. TA was made by Cavedog which the design team desolved into Gaspowered Games. The developer behind TA made SC as the spiritual successor to the TA franchise. This is why the two games are similar, and why many compare the two. I personally would've liked to see more of the TA world and learn more of it's story, despite it having a lacking story to begin with, the idea of a several thousand year war over the boundries between transference of conciousness to a machine, or to live in the body you're born with could've really been expanded on if they want to. Though on the other hand, the lack of a story is notably one of the strengths of TA, the fact it's one team vs another, an all out automata war fighting for domination as it carves a war torn path through out the galaxy. All it had was a narrator, a premise, and nothing more than mission briefings. Simple enough to understand and engage with.

That's a completely different game. I want a REMAKE. I have PA:Titans and I enjoy it, but that is not Total Annihilation. It has different units, for example. It only has 1 faction and it doesn't have a Hover Factory.

The mass unit count, the variety in warfare type and firepower, the build flexibility and the resource system are awesome. So basicly every aspect of an RTS is what sets this game a part from other main titles like C&C. The absolute only thing I miss in this game is building garrison. but then again there're so many options with stationary guns. This game will always be legendary

I like annihilators and heavy laser turrets backed up with berthas and guardians with a few rocket and several flak, makes it so hard to breach without the use of nukes and even then you have to coordinate an attack nigh perfectly with air and ground (and sea if available, because the battleships and cruisers make good sponges plus they can rain plasma everywhere) so you can take out the anti nukes just to bust through... Absolutely wonderful game. doomsday machines are also nice :)

That's the problem with Krogoth, as powerful as it is. If you have more than 1, then the explosion from one dying is likely to severely weaken the others, which will make that next one explode sooner. Rinse and repeat.

Nice sound reskins for nearly all your weapons such as rockets and lasers, which is just about the entire battle. Not sarcasm or insults since I don't use sarcasm. I really do like your sounds. Sometimes 20 Defenders are pretty to annoying to hear fire all at once.

Pretty cool, World War I, attrition warfare stuff there. But what really stands out is the lack of battlefield deformation. There's barely any craters or debris or pockmarks. Even in Command & Conquer, if you set up a defensive position, you could tell that the enemy was pouring through a cratered wasteland. But after this battle, most of the grass looks freshly manicured and mowed.

L-1011 Widebody well i guess heightmaps would have been as much gig as the game is now because you might expect a blasted off higher elevation to give after some siege has been given to it. that would be probably unfair. plus there's the commander's Dgun. "hey kbots i found a new way around these 8 mile walls"

+L-1011 Widebody For a 1997 game, you ought ta give it some credit. Even games being made today don't think very much of terrain deformation. So far, only Battlefield 2-4 have the deformed terrains with the exception of much less epic battles. I'm uploading some gameplay on my channel of one round going 2:30:00 at most in two separate videos. the way the game works is entirely fine to me. the only thing I'd add right now is more units and better AI. Total Mayhem is a mod for the game that totally makes the game bigger in battles, maps, unit types, and higher-paced. You should check it out.
