You should check out supreme commander forged alliance. Made by the same guy in the same style though this still stands on it's own merits. TA really showed me what an air and naval war could be. Not just hover units shooting at each other but jets angling for shots as they zip across the map, subs playing harrassment leading to layered fleets and patrol groups. It was a blessing to grow up with it.

And if you build enough of them they will actually exceed the maximum number of sound events the game can handle so you just end with fragments of usually Peewee machine gun fire every now and then.

That was my favourite part too! I remember how many skirmishes I won by those cannons! I made 10s of them, nothing could pass through, and when the map was small enough, I even took on their base!

@@StompDeni42 That was how I played too. With all the many RTS games at that time, the only one I felt immersed in a total war scenario was this one. No other game came close to smashing armies of hundreds of units across half the map with gigantic and continuous artillery barrages, then a couple dozen nukes and an air fleet of a hundred bombers to mop up survivors.

I think this is one of the best render intros for games ever. A compact setup of why the situation is what it is, and then a compilation of what the game is about: building and destruction. And everything in the intro is actually part of the game, every unit and building seen can be built and controlled. It is not the prettiest though.

The Air battle with the Advanced Radar tower is forever burned in my memory, I played this game some much as a kid (born in 92) i used to set LAN PVP against my dad who was Rated #17 on gamespy back in the day. I'd ask him to give me a 20 min build time only to be crushed by him in a matter of seconds after the time was up. I never beat him, but damn was it fun.

This was interesting because I never understood how, if the ARM was populated with clones, why do none of their machines have viewing ports, and why do they also make clunky metal noises? Also, did the Core pattern their soldiers minds directly into their vehicles, ships, and aircraft as well? or just into the K-Bots? It would be interesting to think there were little mechanical crewman working the ships, and either mechanical pilots or remote operators piloting the tanks and aircraft. Could you imagine life as a Torpedo Bomber? or a Submarine?

TA is epic. For a modernized experience with vastly improved UI, graphics, balance and unit limit... And easily 150-200 players online at any time in any timezone (Not counting passworded servers) - at the moment theres 10 filled up 8v8 servers and several smaller ones... Try Beyond all Reason, BAR. Its the sucessor to a spring-engine based TA mod called Balanced Annhilation.

Incredible. I used to play this so much in the late 90s. Do you take requests? I would LOVE to see the intros to PANDEMONIUM! and PANDEMONIUM 2 upscaled. They are such colorful games and those intros are so well done for their time (1996/1997). I think they would hold up incredibly well if upscaled via AI.

I dont think that is possible since an Ipad is running IOS and TA either requires Wiindows or Mac. Unless Wargaming release an IOS and Android version but the chance for that is low
