Good stuff, Turtle. I just started a new character as well. My recommendations for more seasoned players like me who wish to help newcomers: - Sell the common plans for just a dozen caps. Nobody will buy your Pocketed leather armor chest plan for 250 caps. Sell it for 15 and make a new player happy. - Always keep bobby pins in stock for just 1 cap. - Sell disease cure or antibiotics for a reasonable price - Stock some lvl20-30 Fixers for a reasonable price - Don't lock your camp! What are you afraid of? Someone will sleep in your bed? Nothing's more annoying than to arrive at a camp overencumbered and finding the crafting tables locked so I can't break down my junk, store the loot and fix my stuff. - Leave some free stuff around (water, junk in collectrons, coffee, etc.)

One thing everyone forgets is when you start the game turn around and sleep in the bed so you start the game with a 5% xp buff

i heavily recommend using the first 3 level ups to max inspirational. 15% all around xp boost while in a team will lvl you up much faster. creating a team with just you in it will activate it. you can always shift around your points with the perk machine at your camp later 👍

Try to find the type of build you want early so you aren’t trying to level up to buy the cards you need for the build you want well over level 100. Use peoples camps to fast travel and uncover locations always join a team and you can travel to teammates camp or location for free. Join daily ops and expeditions even if you can’t help much. Also rad rumbles and eviction notice are best events for xp and legendaries way better then a boss battle. Take everything from everywhere that isn’t nailed down and scrap it.

@@Pinda220 eventually it doesn’t matter if you stick with the game long enough but I’ve known plenty of people that stop before finishing their build. If you play into the 300s you will be fine but if you want a meta build by 150 you have to get the right cards early. If you don’t care about having an efficient build ASAP then yea it doesn’t matter.

Good advice @williammoore - When you get to level 1,200 you should be able to try every type of build and find out what you have been missing. I went from Tank to Stealth, Rifle, Melee, Bloodied and now mix them up. My latest build is "NO WEAPONS"...just punching my way around the map !!

Wish I knew about Angry Turtle when I started playing. My grown son encouraged me to give it a try, never did MMO games. The community has been great, at like level 10 met a player who dropped 200 stimpacks and other gear on me and even now at nearly lv 200 still run into senior players who are generous. If you are taking the ignore the questlines until after level 50, in addition to everything Turtle said, public events will start showing up on the map starting at level 7. Join them, and you will gain levels quickly. My second character gained 4 levels just on moonshine jamboree. Tag as many enemies as you can. Don't get hung up on trying to get a kill.

@waffleMccoy tagging enemies is easy. Just shoot them a couple of times and then shoot the next one, etc. Tesla rifle works best, although any weapon will work. As long as you hit an enemy, you will get xp and loot from the body when someone else kills it.

I’d also recommend getting the Shelter Utility Room early, build all your work benches and stash boxes. When you are over encumbered you can just place you camp, then the shelter door and do everything you need to. Plus you don’t have to mess with the weird issues when moving camps and structures that won’t place.

As a new player, if you see another player offering a gift, take it. I spent ages trying to give away a low level fixer, dropped it, present emote, they ran away. Doh!

Haha, I gave up trying to give newbies stuff because they always ran away lol! For advice for beginners, they should always check the stairs outside Vault 76 because I drop my known plans, spare stimpaks and radaway and purified water there. I also drop stuff on the doorstep of The Wayward, and the overseers porch. But yeah, don't run away!

I just got the game today (it's still downloading as I type), but I guarantee that if anyone wanted to give me something, I'd take it, since that would, IMO be the polite thing to do, and eventually, once I get to the point where I'm able to, just pay it forward & do the same for new players I run into... I love your videos for a lot of reasons. One I am looking for like this would be a video on how to select decent perk cards early on, especially if you roll a new character. BTW, I just rolled one tonight and as you noted, I was lvl 5 and some very kind person dropped around 60-70 stim paks on me. LOL. I was overweight till I found a decon station, but the generosity of players always impresses me.

My biggest tip is, once you know you want to play this game and invest some time into it, Sub to FO 1st. You unlock the scrap box, which has unlimited storage for scrap/junk and the Ammo Box. Both extremely useful once you've played for a bit. You get a Survival Tent, which lets you basically set a second Fast Travel point and has things to scrap and store your items which is great when you're overweight and cant Fast Travel. You'll also get free Atoms every month and can buy some Utilities or whatever you want (Perfect Bubblegum and Carry Weight Booster are both great, as well as Repair Kits especially at low levels) and now Scoreboard Boosters. On top of that, make sure you log in every day because you get a free Utility item every day (even if you dont have FO 1st) and sometimes its Caps and a few other things, which are huge at low level. There are all convenience items for anyone with fears of P2W or Pay to Progress. None of these items are necessary. They don't get you anything faster or get you anything better. Theyre just QoL. Increased carry weight for a short time, having a repair kit when you might not have mats to repair, or some caps (which is a random daily gift, you cant buy caps with money or buy anything that you can sell or buy any weapons or anything like that.)

cool video! A must-watch for anyone just starting out in Fallout 76! Watching this video makes me want to spin up a new character if only to relive the experience of just starting out. Leveling up to 50 prior to starting out the main quest line==great idea! I wish I had thought of that back in the day. I would go off on this or that rabbit trail, but kept getting the advice to stick to the main quest line. Now I wish I had done a lot more meandering and wandering around--and thus leveling up to 50 --before focusing on the Main Quest line. I'm not much of an XP grinder, but I think that going straight to West Tek while sub-50 to level up is a great idea! If you're just starting out and you want to get into West Tek, you may want to try entering through the back door. Fewer enemies and barricades. For any new players who are wondering if they will ever get to level 50--I know that I felt that way--I would say, hang in there. It's worth it. When I hit level 50, I felt like I had just graduated --from Morgantown High. Hitting level 50 opened up a lot of possibilities and leveling got substantially easier there after. I actually felt a greater sense of accomplishment in reaching level 50 than I did when I eventually hit level 500. Another thing, SPECIAL really confused me when starting out. But Angry Turtle,... you explained it so well! For me, it was one of those "hard part-do later" topics. I did my best to pretty much ignore SPECIAL until I had sorted out other things, like making ammo, progressing on the main quest, etc. I was past level 75 by the time I felt like tackling SPECIAL. Kind of a mistake. Today I have five buildouts in my SPECIAL manager. A crafting build, of course. But also, melee, heavy gunner, etc. etc. And that thanks to Angry Turtle's numerous videos that touch on SPECIAL and how to get the most out of a stack of Perk cards, within this or that situation. In fact, looking for help in understanding SPECIAL was how I discovered Angry Turtle and his great advice and information.

For beginners this game is ALL ABOUT BLOODIED WEAPONS & UNYIELDING ARMOR. Everybody uses SECRET SERVICE ARMOR, you get that by Dam near if not doing ALL THE MAIN MISSIONS. If you are like me and not trying to be weak the whole campaign, then understand this. If you started from level 1 like me MAIN MELEE & BOOST YOUR STRENGTH to max,but also use atleast 2-3 on INTELLEGENCE to buy MAKESHIFT ARMOR or STABLE TOOLS, so your not having to find scraps to keep fixing the chainsaw durablity ( Chainsaw a TWO HANDED FULL AUTO MELEE/MELEE ). This helps kills alot of people fast, save up money & buy a chainsaw from a player or find one from a guide video. Scrap them til you get DUAL BAR & then Buy Flame mod from a TRAIN STATION ROBOT. Build your deck from there. DO NOT WORRY ABOUT BLOODIED AT ALL. YOU WILL NEVER HAVE THE RESOURCES FOR THAT OR UNYIELDES ARMOR. Instead use ARMOR THAT GIVES YOU A STAT POINT ( PREFERABLY STRENGTH ). MELEE IS BY FAR THE BEST STARTER BUILD ANYONE PLAYING WITHOUT OP FRIENDS SHOULD USE. It is the cheapest and less time consuming build on the game. Focus on DAMAGE REDUCTION from here, because the CHAINSAW WITH DO ALL THE DAMAGE FOR YOU. If you can find BETTER GUNS IN OR PLAYERS VENDORS GREAT. Plasma Rifle,Marksman Sniper Rifle & Double Barrel Shotgun are THE ONLY USEFUL DEFAULT WEAPONS IN THIS GAME. MELEE HELPS YOU GET ALOT OF AMMO, you can sell that to your vendors for $1 ( PLAYERS LOVE AMMO ). EVENT EASY LVL UPS: You can find BIG POLYGON Exclamation marks on your map. DON'T JOIN THEM UNTIL YOU SEE ANOTHER PLAYER THERE. This is so that TRYHARD PLAYER can kill them all for you, JUST MAKE SURE YOU GOT AN AUTOMATIC GUN TO SHOOT THEM BEFORE THEY DIE or the kill won't count for you. FARM ATLANTIC CITY: THE MOST SENSATIONAL GAME FOR XP & MONEY FARMING, & If melee AMMO FARMING. ( START BOARDWALK ) Teleport to Nuka World On Tour to get rid of all the trash I KNOW IM EXTREMELY LATE TO FALLOUT BUT THANK ME LATER. NON OF THESE KZbinRS HELPED ME, so im helping the 1% that sees this. Westtek is mid at telling you info, YT named Angry is useful, but they just tell you HIGH LEVEL unuseful for beginners stuff. 90% of the info you won't use. For Secret Service Armor, you will need alot of gold, like 4,000 worth for the full set im not to sure. Each piece cost like 400 or 700, so make sure you turn in your money tickets to the machine located in " THE CRATER "

"There is no penalty for death in Fallout 76". Yes there is , if you die outside an Event you will drop your junk and have to retrieve it. If the enemy which killed you is still there they may kill you again. Meanwhile another player can steal your junk.

So it's a more involved process of a leveling system rather than just a bunch of numbers that effect other numbers? Having no level cap, then adjusted to have the main attributes be the absolute lowest possible but not necessarily effect overall gameplay is a nice trade-off Just like the old school RPGs

Been playing since first scoreboard. The very best option for a new player is to do the Stealth Armor and Volt 79 run, if not you’ll spend years wasting you time on the game be luck if you’ve passed level 300, level 700 is where the game starts as you’ve unlocked all your legendary cards. At level 700 that’s when you can max out for big xp to clear the scoreboard quickly it’s very beneficial collect items when new item comes on scoreboard. The stealth armour is 4000 gold which is playing the game for a couple of years for some folk and even then you’ll be wanting the unyielding SS Armor and weapons which all cost gold. You’ve four players to use, the other best option other option is Excavator Armor tank build and visit enclave to find where nuke card bot is and build up your nuke cards. Nuke middle map for meat, queen or near events to unlock them, I used to spend 9 hours a day nuking. Whilst on nuking learn mine glitch for speed. Another option which is very cool is camp building which is well worth learning. I’m not sure but I think there’s a difference between the western fallout 76 and Japanese fallout 76 when it comes to camp building. Nuke winter is a good game and it was stopped. I believe there’s a new version out now to play?

i started a week ago and wish i saw this video first, didnt know how to use vats till i was lvl 53 but i was lucky enough to have a random player that was lvl 400+ help me with things, he was really patient as well as i didnt know how to get into expeditions for a while, cleared like 3 expedition runs and i went from lvl 15 to lvl 44 on my third day of this game and ive been grinding the game since, the game might be a little grindy but the community is one of the best ive ever seen(i play league of legends this is a new experience for me), i even got multiple max lvl weapons from different players, im lvl 111 now and i hope to be able to help new players too

For new players is rather better tu use a shelter. Installations inside cannot be destroyed by mobs. Plants and wells can be placed on the dirt.

Question. Can I play this solo without having to worry about Toxic Ahh players constantly killing me when all I wanna do is PvE? And second question because there’s mixed answers about it. Can your camp get raided by other players? Some say as long as you’re not Wanted, you and your camp are safe and some say if you raid a player’s camp, you get Wanted.

if you have pacifist on in settings and you are not inside workshop area or wanted no one can attack you or your camp. There are some exploits allowing to slowly damage camps but it was a while since i saw anyone doing that, maybe they fixed it

I am new to this game and I want to do a No Armor build like I did in fallout 4. I am mostly relying on lone wanderer and I wanted to know if that’s viable? I am around level 15 so still pretty low level. Another perks you recommend? I am a agility and luck build with a little in charisma for lone wanderer

you can repair on workbench with common scrap

top tip for vets : be nice to noobs plus give them free gifts ( i alwaýs have a gatling laser or minigun with we that theý can hang it as motivation on the wall till theý reach the level ) 😊 love theýre big eýes and happý jumps

Im new to 76, scan anyone tell me why my pip boy screen has changed without me changing it? Pretty much it looks like im in power armor pip instead of the default green?

pip boy has two view settings look at the bottom of the screen with pip boy open to see button mapping

You say to side with raiders but to be honest thats the 1st time Ive ever heard anyone say that & never heard that weapon mentioned before. Everyone always say to choose settlers & get the chinese stealth armour so really dont know what to go for :(

yes but you need friend on server that will serve as anchor otherwise your stuff can end up on different server
