Very reliable! Bewn bashing mine for 3 months now nothing broken. Be warned there is very little grease on the front and rear transmission gears. But the diff is filled good. Reccommemd adding grease before long term bashing to avoid premature wear.

What is your over all opinion on the rustler 4x4? I just picked one up used and had to fix the front bulkhead so I replaced it with an RPM bulkhead. Also going with rpm arms, hubs and C-blocks. Previous owner has the integy 50t hardened steel spur in it with I'm assuming the high speed gear so it too goes into thermal shut down. I'm fixing to fit some 40mm Wild turbo fans on the esc and the motor to help with cooling before i gear down. If it doesnt work then I'll gear down. I'll let you know my findings when they arrive.

Hey kevin .. i put the 17 pinion on my rustler 4x4 vxl and it fell off twice.. with 5 minutes of putting it on .. but the original 11 pinion does not fall off.. if im putting them on the same way .. i dont know why the 17 pinion falls off and the 11 pinion doesnt. Pls educate me..

reinforce the tires by flipping inside out, and stick couple layers of duct tape around the inside of the tire, and then adhere the foam to the tire, finally using contact cement (thats plastic safe) to bond the tires to the wheels instead of CA Glue, gives some flex so wont rip open..

How hot is too hot for a traxxas vxl motor? I have the slash 4x4 on 3s with a fan on the esc, but my motor is always too hot to touch. And that's with the stock gearing, will it be ok with the high speed gearing?
