1:52 "Let's face it I'm no TV star" is actually a really sad lyric. Think about it. The whole point of Cody's character in Season 1 was him having the misconception that he is popular and formidable. Not only that, but his AUDITION tape is him proclaiming "I'm gonna be a superstar one day, even bigger than [video ends]" ... then he gets his shot at fame playing in a band ..... and, THEN, Season 3 comes around and Sierra babies him the only time. By the end of the season, Cody has grown insecure. The realization hits him, that he is one of the weakest links. 1:50 "I never thought I'd get this far" ... I mean, early in World Tour, Cody told the "ladies" that he could "protect them" ... in Season 1, he was just such a confident guy. As Season 3 ends, Cody is literally a hollow version of himself. A changed man. He went into Total Drama viewing himself as a big-shot, with a positive self-image and high self-esteem. He left Total Drama learning how weak and incapable he is. His enthusiasm, his optimism, his sociability -- all gone. All he gained from Total Drama was an invasive stalker smh. I like Sierra a lot, but I don't think Cody ultimately befriending her is enough to classify as character growth or self-improvement. It's a subtle tragedy that I don't think anyone has noticed about Cody. Of course, another reason for Cody's change of personality in the latter half of S3, compared to S1, could be that the show was getting new writers. This happened in S5, All-Stars, when the characters simply weren't acting like themselves, due to the writers having not done their research. Whatever the case, this is the new Cody. Very sad.

I think of it more as him becoming more self aware. He knows who he is and what his strengths and weaknesses are but we'll still occasionally stand up to powerhouses like Alejandro, Duncan, Courtney, etc. I do hate what Sierra did to his character but I did appreciate how she was able to uplift him when he couldn't believe in himself. All in all, I think it makes him more relatable and reliability is why he became so popular in the first place.

Next time I see someone say Cody never sang in World Tour I'll show them this...I swear people convinced themselves that Cody never sang a single time when he did. And it also doesn't make sense that people complain he didn't sing in all of the songs, when you could easily say that to every character. Because if you actually pay attention to each song, Cody isn't the only one that doesn't sing sometimes. And plus in some episodes, some songs are solos or duos. In that Izzy song, Owen is the only one that sings with Gwen doing adlibs. In Greece, Duncan and Gwen were the only ones that sang.

Amongst the TDWT fandom, there is the well-known FoLkTaLe that Peter Oldring famously declared he was not confident in his singing ability. Hence why Ezekiel, Tyler, and Cody barely sing compared to Heather/Courtney per se. BUT... has anyone actually SEEN the interview? There's not many Total Drama related Cody Oldring videos on the internet, as far as I can tell. Not one. But PLEASE enlighten me, someone. I really want to see the source, and any other interviews with him acknowledging his time with Total Drama. I've scene the other non-TD interviews, but does anybody actually know where to find the clip of him revealing his insecurity? Also, I respect all the voice actors, although a part of me thinks Oldring should have given singing a shot. As it's kind of his job as a voice actor. Sure, he didn't sign up in Season 1 expecting to sing - - but he should've been prepared to expect all kinds of vocal performances when deciding to voice act, yanno? I mean, all the other Total Drama VA's had to swallow their pride too, right? 😂 No hate, though. I don't like to sing either. I just think they let Peter out too easy. They could've even hired someone to replace Oldring during the song bits, like many other shows do. Because Cody/Tyler's lack of singing is a glaring inconsistency.
