EXACTLY! IM IN WA state. We had one six or seven years ago. Look at foliage it looks strange. Then you feel tears . It's just so emotional and hard pressed to explain. I wish I could see one more.

Yes, the 2017 eclipse was spectacular, but what I remember the most is the traffic.

@@RogerWittekindYeah! I was in far northwestern Nebraska, at a rest area on Highway 20. It was perfect; maybe 50 people and a real picnic atmosphere. We had a panoramic view of a wide area and no interference from any quarter. When it was over was when we ran into traffic. I think the entire state of Colorado emptied out. It took me 6 hours to get to open road a few miles away. I don't know how you could plan for that, but, it would be good to keep it in mind.

OMG! Could you have made this any more boring?!!! I drove 1700 miles round trip to experience totality in 2017. It was a mind blowing, religious experience that is like nothing I've ever experienced in my life! If this is your first totality, do not even try to record it photographically - just experience it. Though I've never taken psychedelics, what I experienced seems very similar to a psychedelic experience. It rockets you into a profound sense of awe that will shrink your vocabulary to a half dozen words. You will feel profoundly insignificant, yet profoundly proud to be a tiny part of this immense universe. You will feel that you are one with the universe, that time has stopped, that nothing else matters, and any noise about your daily life will simply vanish, in an instant. Experiencing the Grand Canyon for the first time is a profound experience that completely renders the hundreds of photos you've seen of the Grand Canyon useless; experiencing totality is like this times at least 100, because while the Grand Canyon is just a grander more magnificent version of canyons and gorges you've seen before, you've never seen or experienced *anything* even remotely like totality. While you know intellectually that the moon is blocking the sun, what you experience is a hole in the sky where the sun used to be; a portal to another dimension. And you see the magnificent corona that appears as a massive seductively undulating delicate tapestry of an alien being that you realize is always there, but can only now be seen because the moon has removed the sun's overpowering glare. It's like crawling into the back of an old wardrobe while playing hide and seek, and suddenly emerging in Narnia!

I'm still confused about viewing with binoculars. I know we need to use filter glasses *except* during totality. Video says that for photography, a solar filter is needed for partial phases but can be removed during totality for better images. But for viewing with binoculars, it just says "make sure they are equipped with solar filters" but does not specify when to use them. Are they needed BOTH during partial phases and totality, or can they be removed during totality? Is there enough light during totality to see the corona and prominences through the filters? If they aren't needed during totality, I am planning to bring normal binoculars to get a better view of the corona.

No matter what some other US sources may tell you, the path of totality touches five provinces in Canada, not four, and no "states".

Can I camp out on your yard!? In all seriousness, I really want to see this but it will be a four hour drive, which I don't mind. I am just wondering how busy the traffic will be and the possible ordeal of getting there and back. It will all be worth it if we get a spot though and the weather is good.

There are so many misleading images of annular solar eclipses, one of them repeated like five times. Lazy lazy editing. This is not the kind of eclipse we are about to experience. Also no credit for the repeatedly shown videos of the 2017 eclipse. And dubious advice about experimenting with photographic settings during the previous moments of totality. Expected better from this channel.

@@IdioticSandwich no they repeatedly showed annular eclipses, wherein the moon passes directly in front of the sun but is at a point in space where it does not cover it completely when centered, leaving the "ring of fire." This eclipse will not feature that.
