Me and my wife did to. 13 grade welding lens. It was cool. Now I can tell my wife that I took her out when she starts to complain I don't take her any where. Even if it just out on the porch.

Only in the same ways solar glasses don't. Remember, it's no more dangerous than looking at the sun on any other day. The best safety tip is to limit exposure. That's why I would look directly for about 2 - 3 seconds, spending the rest of the time watching at my solar funnel.
@NoorquackerInd7 жыл бұрын
Ok, the world wield means to use or hold. Welding*** masks do not completely protect unless you have a dark enough mask, like grade 13 or 14.

Nate, cool time lapse! It's funny, I did the exact same thing with my telescope today. Reduced the Aperture using tape, then taped on a pair of solar glasses in the middle. By the way, excellent capture of the halo!

For those of you that may have gotten a welders flash (burnt eyes), you wont feel the full effect for about 12 hours. It will hurt like a burn or pins and needles in your eye's. A potato works good to help ease the pain. Cut the potato in 1/2 inch thich rounds and place them in the frig tonight, than place them on your eyes when the pain starts. The pain will last for about 24 hours. Welder for 40 years.

Great photos. I backpacked out in a national forest in the totality line. Was on top of a ridge at about 2400 ft. Sky went dark purple, winds changed 180degrees, bugs and birds went away. And i laid down in Shavasana and meditated under the eclipse. It was very rejuvenating.

Glad you got to travel 4 hours to see it. I was trapped in my school and forced to miss a once in a lifetime opportunity.

You will probably get other chances when you're not in school anymore. In a few years it will be in Texas and Mexico!

Very very cool!!! Thank you!!! Only a partial here in North Texas, but still very worth it. Oh, an arc welder shield for your lens may help with future solar videos. Just a suggestion.

My favorite part about the eclipse was that the size of the moon and the sun were just amazing to look at, everyone knows that the moon is tiny in comparison to the sun but since the sun is so far away it really put the moon in perspective. I always saw the moon as this big rock and as a flat image in the sky. Now with footage like this I really do see it as a 3 dimensional object, that is my favorite thing I "discovered" this eclipse.

That's pretty awesome. I got to see a partial up here in New Hamster, but we had a member of the local astronomy club bring his 650mm telescope with a filter, so we got to see sunspots too. I hope Trump decides to nuke the moon so the sky wolf never eats the sun again, thanks.
