The gaming industry the past few years have tought me to: 1. Never be excited about any game anymore. 2. Dont trust previews about the game(u see what happened with R2TW). 3. Never pre-order any game. 4. Demo the game first, and if it doesnt have a demo, pirate it and play it first to see how it is before buying it. 5. Check reviews by popular reviewers like Angry Joe or people like Reynold Sanity. And if 4 and 5 are positive i buy the game and THEN i get excited, i suggest you all do the same. EDIT: I see a lot of people replying to others to pirate the game for the sake of pirating, what im trying to promote here is to pirate the game IF IT DOESNT HAVE A DEMO to PREVIEW it and if you like it buy it, not pirate it for the sake of just getting it for free.

So I watched The Prussian Princes review - Bonus vs cavalry/infantry and Range is only listed as "good, and "very good" now , while units like the Naft throwers have obvious info like " has grenades" and wardog units has info like "has dogs". Shock cavalry has about the same melee stats as levy units in prolonged melee so would need to be cycled like crazy, which is impossible I guess against cavalry. From what I've seen so far , Attila is going to have a rought time for MP.

Cycling cav vs cav will of course be impossible. Vs infantry shock cav are devastating. It will take time and testing to tell. It is very different from Rome 2 in terms of mechanics so far though of course some similarities persist.

Yeah, from what I've seen som far the stats spread on a much larger scale, making for more extreme results in many cases, even more rock/paper/scissor than Rome.

Those Naft throwers remind me of of the Kisho Ninjas from Shogun 2 and the Grenadiers from Empire. The game looks rather sweet. I hope it plays well like Rome 2 was sometime after Hannibal came out.

Maximus Decimus Meridius indeed horde of Levy Morgan Freemen vs the Huns would be an auto GG in favor of the freemen. Though the Hun's do have a decent amount of infantry and won't be stuck with just horses like the poor steppe factions. Their horse archer variety is incredible. Some of them have some nasty missile damage stats as well.

If you're one of those people who watches this video and then immediately thinks that this game is going to be perfect and you're going to go preorder it now, please, I beg you not to. Keep in mind this is ONE multiplayer battle. This shows literally 5% of the game. I know a lot of you are thinking "what a hater" just because I am throwing caution to the wind but I'm not, I love Total War and I want nothing but good things for this game. But I know and eventually you will learn too, that preordering games is a bad idea and day one dlc is an even worse idea. Don't support it. Give Attila 12 hours of being released before buying it, that's all I ask. On the night of release just go to bed and when you wake up get online and I promise you there will be hundreds of reviews to tell you about it. If they are all good then by all means go buy it and you can tell me I'm wrong all you want. But if there are problems then DONT. BUY. THE GAME. If we as collective consumers continue to preorder broken games then games like Rome 2 an Assassins Creed Unity will continue to be released. Games that are released with the companies KNOWING they are broken. Just take a step back and make an informed purchase, and please don't call me a hater. Nothing would make me more happy than to find out I am wrong and that Attila is great, and you know why? Because I win then, I get to buy and download a game that I have been looking forward to and get to enjoy it. But if I am right, and Attila is released in a broken state, I win as well, because I didn't get suckered into spending $60 on a broken game and I can go spend it elsewhere while I wait for Attila to go on sale and not be broken.

Great video, Heir! I am extremely interested in seeing the difference in army rosters between the Eastern and Western Roman Empires. Since the Western Roman Empire was on a decline by this point, I hope to see that they won't have the most powerful unit roster overall. At any rate, they'll still be a great faction to play, I'm sure.

I *really* hope they add the option to show faction flags in battle. Otherwise every battle will always essentially be you, the yellow guys, against the enemy red guys from the overhead perspective that people will mostly be in to control the troops.

It appears shock cav is much more treating to infantry that isn't braced. Melee cav in general seems to be stronger vs infantry. Spears don't seem as good as yari at killing cav but they typically have abilities to boost bracing and have a bonus vs large. Some cav units have very high health to help with survivability vs infantry. It ia hard to really properly judge balance as I am just one man and it will really come to light as thousands play the game. It doesn't feel like Rome 2 meta to me though. I mean in this video I was able to use cav and skirmishers to deal with overwhelming infantry...again though time is the best judge but I like what I have played so far.

The coolest thing yet...the ammo stat adjusts as they fire to represent how much ammo remains not just the base stat. It is pretty sweet.

Those cav battles took forever, after a 5 minutes engagement both units had about 80%¨of their forces left. But the shock cav charge looks devastating, absurdly strong. Lets see how they do agaisnt spears when the game is out.

Why did they call them ERE and not just Byzantine Empire?! Also, the game just looks like a big DLC for Rome. I bet they had ready everything way before the release of Rome 2. Beloved SEGA, dont milk out our fav. series.

They were called the Eastern Romans because they always thought to themselves as "Romans" even after Rome fell to the barbarians. Some of the mottos were for to fight for Rome despite their capital is Constantinople. They were just called the Byzantines much later into the Medieval time period though they never referred themselves as so.

They were Romans. Yes, we called ourselves Romans. Byzantion was the 2nd roman empire(check the insignia. The Holy Eagle points that out) and Russ the 3rd (self-proclaimed). I asked why CA did that choice im not asking what is ERE.

Personally I would like a Frank play through, but I am a big Sassanids fan as well so I am good. As for what was seen of the game. I have my concerns, but will with hold judgement until more is known or I have played a fair amount. Edit:Are the on your shock cav only for looks? Or do they serve a gameplay purpose? Can they switch weapons and use shields and fight better in drawn out fights(like Cata in Rome 1 could pull out maces for AP damage after charge)?

Seems like the Sassanids currently excel at cavalry much more than they do archers, especially against highly armored Romans. Also the "barbarians" of this time period obviously have way more armor than they did in Rome 2.

Well I notices that too. I think (cause I have played some campaign as well) it is an indication of a units quality as well as sometimes research allows some units to be upgraded so it changes their tier. I will check into it further for you if I can.

I wish CA would've put a little bit more work into the game. From what I see in this battle is that it is the exact same as Rome 2, just re-skinned. I bought the game anyway and I'm still going to play it, because I am a hardcore Total War fan, but I wish I could have gotten a little bit more from this game. Whimsical Viking One of the byzantine top secret weapon was that "flamethrower" you are mentioning. It known as "Greek fire", its original name is "υγρό πυρ" (pronounced "ee-gro peer") and it means "liquid fire". It was used only by their navy, setting the enemy ships easily on fire thus giving them naval superiority!
