Don't get me wrong I'm in the same situation as this episode but my interpretation of this episode as far as relating was different. I saw it as fear of failure, battle with depression but most of all we are just broken people. Some of us don't have our shit together mentally and emotional and can't just fart out a full happy life like the normies can(example:fluttershy and rainbow dash circle jerking their accomplishments.) others are held back by toxic attitudes, disabilities and personal experiences. Some of us need help and families are great in that aspect. That's why I love this episode, It shows the struggles of life with no bullshit filter and the strength of family bonds.

When an episode of MLP feels a little too close to home. I loved this episode, I really did, but mainly because I've been on both sides of the fence. I know what it's like to have a family member that's so afraid of succeeding that they won't even try, and I know what it's like to have that same fear. It takes time, lots of time, to get over that fear, to move past it, and to realize that maybe you are good enough to do more, to be more. So, this is one of my favorite episodes from season six. Thanks for doing a recap on it.

This is one of those episodes that makes me question Fluttershy's source of income. Does she sometimes take care of people's animals for a fee? Does she get government benefits? Is there a welfare system in Equestria? Do Earth Ponies get Affirmative Action benefits? Can a Pegasus identify as Earth Pony and get benefits? ...I think I lost the thread somewhere in there.

It was a powerful episode that forced inner reflection on a lot of people who probably really needed it. It forced me to reflect on how close I was to being that freeloader. And how up until recently my brother actually was a lot like that freeloader. Now I pay my own rent and living expenses to live in the same house as my parents as housemates on (almost) equal terms because housing is way too fucking expensive when you're only making a couple cuts above minimum wage, and I literally don't know anyone else I would be willing to be roommates with in a place of my own. It's not where I want to be in life, but housing is a shit ton more expensive than when my parents were my age, and it's a lot better than Flutter's douchebag brother.
