Glad to hear it's all coming back together. As I say again this quarantine build is a great guide for someone building a new pond, top detail, quality banter and a laugh. If ever I build a forever pond I know who I'm hiring :D very jealous that you can pop down to the beach, I'm about 40 minutes from the nearest beach. Insulation is looking really smart, looking forward to seeing the next video of the fibreglassing !

Hi Lee hope you don't mind my saying as I haven't done fibreglassing for years but I know that roofing resin and the hardener is toxic to the fish and so is the top coat. Even though goes off hard it can leach out and affect fish with sores redskin and ulcers, when you fill pond up you get an oily scum on water surface which should set alarm bells ringing. Did you get issues with fish in your other pond? Some years ago when I had my pond fibreglassed they used Scott bader products because it's food industry standard. Maybe the reason your foam melted is because you used an aggressive trade roofing system with incompatible chemicals. Take notice of what other subscriber says regarding skimmer . You can't really fibreglass onto plastic because it doesn't bond maybe use etching undercoat first. Always fibreglass under the skimmer then push skimmer into position with goldseal around it .. plenty of... you can always adjust the foam to suit the skimmer. A good tip, coat the foam with coating of resin and ensure set hard before fibreglassing because resin doesn't adhere to the silver foil. Kind regards Ed I'm really enjoying watching you and your project and admire you posting your mistakes for others to learn from, quite rare on youtube
@leehadfield68813 жыл бұрын
Great insight that Ed thanks mate, I am using the exact stuff I used on my other pond and they are fine. I did have a bacterial problem but that was from my first pond that was not filtered properly! But I’ll definitely do what you say about the skimmer and take on board what you say mate for sure thanks for letting me know buddy

You need a little bit more tape across the top of the kingspan! The foam will still react its just the foil protecting it. Awesome job though mate 👏 👌 👍
