When are you going to get JAMES HOFFMAN on your show? We have to introduce Gongfu Tea to the coffee gent!

That would be great. I've been following Don for years now and over the past few months got into der Hoff as well, bought a Kingrinder and v60 and am making the best cawfee of my life. We just need a comparable figure in the yerba mate world to complete the picture.

Just found your channel. ngl, I was inspired to research Gong Fu after watching Avatar The Last Airbender lol. It's really great knowing there's a community with tons of information for something like this. I appreciate it. Thanks for the years and years of videos I gotta binge now! haha.

I love these videos of you selecting random, unknown cakes! Who KNOWS what you could come up with? There's something in there from the 70s for all we know.

Tea name: Tobacco Time Traveler That name comes from the conversations you had where everyone agreed on a tobacco smokiness but that it had notes of both a younger and a more aged tea. I'm also imagining a cover art of a sand-cat smoking from a hookah with a bowl of dates on the table next to the hookah.

How about ,,Frog Morton on the Leaf’’ ? Inspired by the English Tobacco blend with a smoky serenity, and under-the-tongue sweetness.. 😆

So much fun listening to the banter, I’m in the middle of a heavy session of a Lincang blend that’s bold and has a very heady Qi. So the video has me laughing. Thank you and cheers…

I'm gonna say, call it the Hookah Heathen since it's got the fruit, smoke, floral notes that can either bless or curse your taste buds depending on brewing parameters. 🧙♂️🍵✨

For a Name, I would call it 'Tropic Smoke'. Tropical, for the fruit interplays with the cat urine smell, and the 'smoke' for smokey cigar notes and the various other ways it leans into that smokeyness. This is just a cheeky quick one, as I have to log off. haha.

Cake sounds like the epitome of the “unresolved wanderer”. I’m thinking about the story of Sméagol from lord of the rings. Mysterious origin/ age. From a agricultural shire but that’s buried deep under the years of wandering ancient & foreign lands, taking on the darkness of the forests. Promised to be the hero of his story when given possession of the one ring, but ultimately cursed to wander to no end until he met his resolve in mt.Doom (the stomach, lol)

Let's give this cake name: "Eight Chunks of Pasa". It's chunky, it scores straight 8 out of 10 and in chinese the 8 is generally considered lucky. You definitely was lucky to pick this one from your cupboard! ;)

Name of tea: "Devious Sales Pitch" Adrian's initial impression was of a young and sweet tea. But the tea is cunning. That is just the innocent front to the sales pitch. This salesman (the tea) is actually peddling pitch (resin).

I'd call it - Date With a Foreigner/Stowaway. You're abroad, it's evening, and you're on a date in a festival tent, nibbling dates and physalis, all cosy while people relaxedly chat and puff on their pipes around you. Also a nod to the foreign object. I've found some sizeable, compressed and aged beetles in a cake I was halfway through 😑🤢

It’s typically recommended to get a sample before a cake so you don’t end up wasting your money. Have you tried lowering the amount of leaf, the temperature of the water, or the steeping time?
