Tote Bag with Inside Divider Pocket | The Sewing Room Channel🧵
In this tutorial I will demonstrate how to make this very cool and stylish tote bag. What makes this bag a little different from my others is that I am inserting an inside divider pocket.
✂️✂️✂️SUPPLIES AND CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS✂️✂️✂️
-(A) Top fabric: 1/4 yard
-(2) 7 1/2" x 14 1/2"
-(B) Fabric: 1/2 yard
-Bottom: (2) 7 1/2" x 14 1/2"
-Straps: (2) 3" x 42"
-Binding: (1) 3" x 42"
-Lining and pocket divider: 2/3 yard
-(2) 14 1/4" x 14 1/2"
-(2) 9 1/2" x 11"
-14" zipper or longer (1)
-Fusible fleece: 7/8 yard
-(2) 14" x 13 3/4"

Hi Sue. The tote bag is 12" high, 13" wide at the top, and 4" deep at the bottom. You can make this tote bag any size. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching💗 and happy sewing😍

@@TheSewingRoomChannel Thanks Sherrill, I notice that the inside divider, as it is not as wide as the bag itself, tends to make the inside fabric of the bad "bunch up" a bit, because it is sewn to one side of the inside edge...then pulled across and sewn to the opposite side edge. Is there any way to stop the inside of the bag having this "bunched up" look? Would it be better for me to use a longer zip & larger piece of divider fabric? Perhaps the same size as the width of the bag? I am hoping to start on this bag on Wednesday, the 10th of May, as I have bought 2 lovely fabrics that compliment each other nicely. Hi from South Australia again Sherrill, well it is now the 25th of May, and I haven't started the Tote Bag with inside divider with zip yet!! I had some minor surgery, so that has put me back a bit. I hope to start the bag soon. I have bought a large zip, and I wondered if I made the inside divider bigger, would that help to stop the inside lining of the bag becoming "baggy"? Or is it best to still make the divider smaller than the width of the bag? I have not made many Tote Bags, and never put a zip in one, so I could use your advice please. Thanks so much! Hi Blossom. Nice to hear from you so far away. The method I used to sew the divider into the bag is just one way. There is another way, and I hope to do a tutorial on that method. If you follow the instructions in the video, you shouldn't have any problems. If this is one of your first tote bags, I wouldn't purchase expensive fabric. Thanks for watching💗and happy sewing😍

Hi Sherrill I have a question for you. I made two of your crossbody cell phone cases and it was really fun. I had to buy the snap at Joann’s and like you said there were only black and white. I was wondering if the colored snaps were a little easier to snap and unsnap because these that I put on are really hard to unsnap. Thank you.
