Ms. Paige celebrates her 95th birthday later this year. I wrote to her in 2016 and she was so kind to autograph a lovely classic photo of herself for me. Ms. Paige is 1 of less than 100 people living (many of whom were children) that starred in motion pictures during the 1940’s.

I was just noticing how gorgeous she is sitting on the panel here. To think of her at 95 (if she’s still alive she’d be 103 now if 2023) I just can’t imagine. I’ll go googlee her now! If your numbers are right she was 40 during the shooting of this episode…and she sure looks younger than that!

In game #1, contestant #1 is singer Ron Marshall (1932-2000). Correct name is Anita Ehrman (1935-1963).

It was great having Janis Paige on the panel. We know by now that Tom Poston was a pilot in the Air Force during WW2. In fact, his plane flew paratroopers over Normandy. Bud is always a pro.
@rmelin13231 Жыл бұрын
Just a side note - we Air Force veterans like to point out that there was no Air Force during WWII. Just a technicality, but the Air Force was formed in 1947.

Game #2: Can any Indonesian or Malaysian in the comments (since the language is similar) say what is correct pronunciation of the Badminton player name?
@loissimmons65584 жыл бұрын
There was a well-traveled major league relief pitcher in the 1960's and 70's whose name had the same pronunciation, but his last name was spelled Hoerner. He pitched in 493 regular season major league games, all in relief, for Houston, St. Louis, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Kansas City, Texas and Cincinnati. He was a member of the 1967 World Champion St. Louis Cardinals although he pitched poorly in that series (ERA of 40.50) and not very well in the following season's World Series (lost one game) in the World Series that the Cardinals lost to the Tigers in 7 games. He was also known as part of the trade between the Cardinals and Phillies that included Curt Flood. Although Flood lost the suit, when he refused to report and filed suit against major league baseball, it was an important step on the road to free agency for major league players.

I know Tom Poston was a pilot but, does anyone ever wonder how come every time guest pilots are on, they usually have no idea what he is asking about?

I with Kitty am amazed that someone who was covering Algeria can't name the mountain range...because she's not good with geography.
@John-ih2bx Жыл бұрын
Kitty continues with her complaints of not getting "correct" answers, either assuming that the contestant knows everything that Kitty happens to know, or the contestant is wrong. Her socialite aura does make her very intelligent in some areas, but terribly ignorant in basic logic. Not in this episode, she proudly states that she is a feminist, but chooses a female contestant based on their looks, "Oh, you are too pretty to be [whatever] ". Terribly illogical.

I just had a weird Mandela effect. I remember this episode watching it on Game Show Network. I remember it because of the three different versions of the contestant's name in Game 2 and in Game 3 the woman who was in Algeria but didn't know the name of the mountains and Kitty objecting to that. The Mandela affect comes in because I thought it was during the color 1970s syndication version with Gary Moore as host with the panel on the left side of the studio and contestants on the right. With Game 2 I just thought it coincidence that it happened here and later with Gary Moore, but with the Atlas Mountains fiasco it's the same episode. I always thought it was in color with Gary Moore. Weird.
