I'm a woman and I find this hilarious. It's a commercial that makes fun of other commercials. In a real commercial the men are enjoying the superbowl, while the wife brings them in a nice meal with a huge smile. SNL's commercial is simply poking fun at how silly that is. Most households that I know if at least EVERYONE is in the living room (Dad, mom, kids, friends, etc.).

skyhr Well trust me women (or men) aren't often going to be treated quite this badly hehe. But, yeah, sometimes people treat other people badly, sometimes that's men treating women badly, sometimes it's women treating men badly, sometimes it's women treating women badly, well, you get the idea :) Sure, I hope there is as small a percentage as possible of people getting treated badly :)

+Brian Fantana It's a skit that aims to show the "inequality of women" in the U.S as viewed by popular (feminist-dominated) media and college professors. So basically, the "message" is rooted in a fictional, extreme interpretation of society.
@johannesgh90
@johannesgh90 8 жыл бұрын
+Mr. LHD6 Well, you could take it that way if you really want to find extreme feminism in it, but have you seriously never seen this kind of "no girls allowed" behavior? not with older people? not with kids? Sure, it's usually not this obvious but the point of satire is to exaggerate problems in society to make the ridiculousness of it more noticeable and to make it funny. I think I've seen more subtle versions of this scene in real life, which is why I'm kind of taken aback by your use of the word "fictional" because I'm taking it to mean "made up from scratch". Is that maybe not what you meant?

Joseph LeForte whether that is true or not it doesn't justify the systematic violation of civil rights, discrimination, and subordination of the female gender. No one has a right to put off someone expressing their views about sexism and misogyny in television commercials because this other idea you have hasn't been performed in a sketch by someone. You can't pretend that white men haven't had an advantage over women throughout history by the use of systematic discrimination, intimidation and threats towards women. This is not to say that men can't be victims as well but they simply were not subject to the same kind of discrimination and mistreatment as women were and still are in some parts of the world.

This resulted in me being seen as a doormat and the whole group shouting at me if I refused to make him another or people taking his side whenever I got 'angry' (protested) or offended. I am never making anyone a sandwich again before they have made one for me first.

Widdekuu91 Yeah, sexist behavior is a very real subject, and reality for many women. I grew up watching men treat my mother like that and I promised myself to never treat women like that. I understand. People think its a dumb thing to get angry about but it's the logic behind it that's insulting. If a man expects you to make him a sandwich because you're a woman, then that isn't respect. A lot of men secretly think they are better than women because of gender roles. Always own your power, or someone will always try and take it away. I hope you are no longer with this person because they don't honestly love you or they wouldn't treat you like that.

HappyColdCut Hey dude, apparently you don't get why this is a "joke". I suggest you Google the content of this video. Also jokes are derived from culture, not human nature which is independent of culture.
@chewface

HappyColdCut Um, it was on SNL. I realize it's just a joke. But the source of the joke is based on a real phenomenon where men treat their wives like subservient slaves and neglect her.

I suggest you google the phrase ignorance and before you decide to try to comment back with something stupid, know two things. I won't read it and the fact that you don't see why this is fucked up, means you really are a dumb fucking moron. You realize you're part of the problem? But of course you wouldn't know, you think it's just a joke. Soon shitty people like you won't be a part of this planet, so have fun while you're here.

I had a colleague like this. His wife went for a week on a business trip and he was literally bored, depressed, didn't know what to do. We were quite surprised to know he had no life besides his wife. At least that's what I take from this scenario -> that the wife has 2+hours of free time yet has absolutely no shit to do, many people are like this. No hobbies, no life goals, sad really.
@Gonk

Gonk Yeah but you can't be chained like this. It's not only a waste since there are billions of things to do, but if suddenly something happens and you have to change, it's very stressful. If you have one thing you care about and your whole life goes around like this, you are literally one dimensional character. :/
