Toto plays its signature song "Home of the Brave" as possibly the last song played live with the classic lineup of David Paich, Steve Porcaro, Steve Lukather, and Joseph Williams. Recorded at The Met, Philadelphia 20-OCT-2019.

This came out in '88 and is very true today. A very underrated song, along with "Stop Loving You." I hate how radio stations only play "Africa" and maybe "Rosanna." No "I Won't Hold You Back", this song, "Stop Loving You", "Holyanna," or even "Child's Anthem."
@pearlady223 жыл бұрын
Totally agree! I’m so sick of “Africa”. It’s too overplayed. I wish radio stations would play “Pamela” or “Till the End” or any other under represented song. It’s the same for other bands and artists as well. Radio stations play the same songs for Queen, Elton John, Def Leppard, etc.

Most amazing job with your iPhone I take it. I like how you didn't zoom, you just kept it on the stage and centered. And then the sound you got out of your phone was amazing. You had good seats as far as being well centered with the PA system. Lastly, so hard to keep it together great song that's emotionally lifting makes me want to sing and dance every time I hear it!

Yes. Toto did produce two excellent blu Ray with the 35th and the 40th anniversery. The last one was David Paich last run, so I am very happy they documented it. But it was kind of a shame they didnt documents David Hungates return to the band. Solid Toto, XIV tour I belive was the strongest they did during their second act.

It's difficult to talk about Toto's "classic" line up, because they've had so many changes - some good, some not so good!. The line up that gave them their biggest success was the 3 Porcaros, Paich, Lukather and Kimball.

I love all the David Paich's songs! His melodies are bit different, catchy and great! Steve's guitar arrangements add more flavors. To be honest, I want more David's songs and less Steve's songs at the concert. David is genius in composing songs!!
It's so sad that Steve Porcaro has fallen out with the rest of the guys over his sister-in-law's legal suit against Luke over the royalties to Jeff Porcaro's estate issue.

I've watched multiple interviews with both Lukather and Steve Porcaro, and I STILL can't make heads or tails on what's going on. All I know is that [late drummer] Jeff Porcaro's widow (since remarried) has forbade Lukather, Paich and any other Toto members to use the band name. Is Steve part of this lawsuit against his former band members and if so, why is he siding with his ex-sister-in-law?
@limposwe3 жыл бұрын
A couple years ago he had a Facebook post condemning Jeffs ex-wife’s behaviour. I don’t why that should have changed. And I think Luke didn’t see Steve Ps hand there. He was focused on fixing his hair for the thank you lineup picture. :)

All great bands lose the war against Father Time, and Toto is no exception. Lukather still plays amazing guitar, but his vocals are quite diminished. As are Joe's He cant hit the upper ranges without yelling, ie he's lost his techique. He's just not the same vocalist as he was in the 80's. The band misses SP- equal to JeffP in technique and even better re feel, touch and all around skill. It's best if Toto goes out in style. Please don't hang on too long, as so many other bands have. Know when to hang it up.

You need to listen again.
@MrOoofah3 жыл бұрын
@@teresaclark1508 I’ve watched this a few times, plus their other concert videos from 2005-present. My conclusions are spot on. Voices are delicate instruments that often don’t age well over the years. Steve Lukather has openly admitted his vocals have diminished in numerous interviews. It’s great you’re a Toto fan, Teresa. Yet it says a lot about your sense of pitch/technique that you can’t or won’t admit what the band has- Father Time is undefeated. As Toto has officially disbanded, it’s all a mute point now.
@funklover243 жыл бұрын
@@MrOoofah Complicated ... you are right about the vocal-parts, it can be heard especially in this video even though it's transposed down a half note. Rock'n-roll-lifestyle is not helpful for a voice. We'll see what's going on with the next tour. I love Toto since more then four decades and will be there. I mean, this is a personal thing actually there is the same discussion about another band I love - Genesis. These bands are going deep into my heart, very very deep. Perfection? What's so important about it? I heard Al Jarreau about 18 months before he passed away ... he transposed down most of the songs and his electricity was not the same as in the eighties or nineties. But I am SOOOO HAPPY I was there. ❤
@cptkangaroo3 жыл бұрын
@@MrOoofah agreed. Joe doesn’t sing with nowhere near the delicate openness that he demonstrated earlier in his career. One listen of “We can make it tonight” proves this point beyond doubt
