Love seeing the guys play, and I really love the music that Toto creates! But I do have to say this: Joe Williams. He either needs to sing in a lower key, or consider retiring. He no longer has the power and clarity to hit those high notes. I'm well aware of the fact that he is older (63 years old) and he does have a lot of mileage on his vocal chords, but he really has struggles with certain aspects of the higher register. But I still love that he's giving it his all.

Due to legal problems with Jeff P.'s widow, they've decided not make new TOTO albums, though they have released four solo albums wherein various TOTO members past and present played on tracks. Greg P. first played with TOTO 21 years ago and Shannon F. 10 years ago. Ham first played with TOTO in 1986, joining officially in 2017. The TOTO album and other studio credits that the "new" members have racked up is literally staggering.

Luke said Sput and X left to focus on their funk band, Ghost-Note (which is currently on tour). No official reason given for replacing Maggiora with Atlas. Shannon Forrest was with TOTO before Sput (from 2014-2017). Greg P. first subbed for Paich in 2003-04, then took over from 2006 until the band's hiatus and Paich's return in 2010.

Toto is premium. Sounds better than Journey, Styx and others. Luke is the only original left and the only difference is lead vocals from their prime in the 80s. Joe does not have the range Bobby did in his prime. I would rank them and Night Ranger as the best sounding bands live. ACDC was good in the 80s but the singer don't have the range he use to. What a lot of people do not understand is sound is not only the band but the one mixing. Also who is frontlining. Toto will not be mixed as well when performing with Journey. When the are headlining, they are hard to beat talent and sound wise.
@Calbear9419 күн бұрын
Journey really stepped it up this year. Having TOTO coming out on fire every night for two years pushed them to bring their best as well.

@@josephballewAgree with most you said, but TOTO has their own sound crew. The acoustics in smaller venues that TOTO headlines in. Arenas are cavernous and the volume has to be cranked. Clipping or distortion coming out of the huge speakers masks some of the subtleties that we enjoy.

A backdrop with stagelights is much cheaper than having a large multimedia video display. With the cost of logistics increasing so much, TOTO had to cut costs coming back from the pandemic. For example, no backup singers, analog piano, nor full percussion station.
@johnsmith-ug5tp19 күн бұрын
@@Calbear94 Video displays are just as annoying and rude as those moronic blinding flashing lights. Here is an idea. Go back to that best stage lighting ever from the mid 70s to the mid 80s. That shines down from above onto the artists and bathes them in a beautiful and awesome glow.
@johnsmith-ug5tp19 күн бұрын
