Toto Remote Control Troubleshoot

The remote control for my Toto Neorest washlet was not functioning normally. It was discovered that the remote control was not defective. A burned-out fluorescent light was sending a signal that interfered with the remote control transmission.

Thank you. Mine the top row of buttons is very very weak. I turned off all my lights, wiped the IR transmitter, brought it close to the back left corner, and it worked!

Excellent video and A+ diagnosis! Have you experienced the washlet cycling/self rinsing, intermittently with no one in the room? Believe its interpreting signal as though one first sits down. I've replaced batteries. Infuriating!

No, I haven't. There's either interference from electronic devices nearby or the sensor is getting false signals somehow. It's hard to troubleshoot if it doesn't occur frequently enough. You may want to keep the remote control and other electronic devices away from the bathroom to rule out faulty signal transmission. If the self-activation still occurs, then the problem is in the washlet itself. These washlets are expensive to fix as there aren't parts available for DIY repairs. One and a half years ago, the wand would not retract. I opened up the control unit and found the belt broken and the motor completely rusted. It cost $450 to have a Toto technician come out to replace the parts.

The wall-mounted remote control is easily detachable. Your hand-held remote control should function the same way as a wall-mounted one. I'd say you would troubleshoot the same way. In my case, testing the detached remote control on another washlet in another bathroom helped to confirm the remote control was not defective.

My remote control is working when opening and closing the seat. but the rear, front and dry functions won’t transmit the command

My remote stopped working after the bathroom was painted a very dark color (it used to be white). I’ve had to reposition my remote to have a more directly line-of-sight to the toilet sensor/receiver.

The important part - how to change the batteries is left out. Troubleshooting the light is irrelevant
