My mum went on a date with Danny Blanchflower long before I was born. Apparently, all he did was talk about football. There wasn't a second date! :D

This was my second FA Cup final to watch on TV following the previous years win for Spurs over Leicester. They won this one and another in 1967 and sandwiched in between was a European Cup Winner's Cup success. From the media coverage, to the style of play, to the way people watch it, to the money floating around at every level, football then was in a completely different place. So was the game better in those days? Well certainly I enjoyed it more then, mainly because there were no egoistic players throwing themselves around looking for penalties. However because the game is far more diverse in terms of the amount of different nationalities on show, it can be said it offers a better perspective.

This I think was the last final played with the open stands before the full roof was built for the 1966 World Cup.

Note the gaggle of press photographers crouched on the ground at either side of the goals. No need for 'em nowadays. Replaced by a row of continuously-running video cameras behind the goals, not a human operator in sight.

What No ripping the shirt off after they scored. Racing towards the corner flag ,sliding on their knees . Making the sign of the cross on their chests. Pointing up to heaven ? Football must have been boring then 😁
