Can’t believe people like Carlton Palmer won so many England caps, when Vinny Samways received 0 - not even called up for friendlies to try him out. Imagine if Southgate’s current selection approach to the national team had been applied by Graham Taylor. Actually screw that, what if Venables had somehow become national manager after Robson... no mess, and a smooth transition from older to younger players. Waddle and Beardsley probably win 20 more caps each... if only Venables hadn’t got involved in things outside footy, it could have all been different. 🤪
