Most fans miss old WHL. Had an atmosphere all of it's own.

Excellent work... at 2.48 the 4 terraced houses at the top of the picture (Paxton Rd) and the 4 in the bottom right (Park Lane) survived after expansion right up to when both ends were redeveloped. A couple of residents refused to move house and stayed until their deaths, before the properties were consumed by expansion.

As a life long " Shelf Sider" I was dismayed when the club announced that they would be putting executive boxes on my beloved terrace. But I go to the new "White Hart Lane" now and I think that if I was informed of the potential of the site, my dismay may have been tempered. I am just waiting for the day when the new stadium can match the electricity of the "Shelf" on occasions such as the Anderlecht cup final, or any game v them lot up the road etc! Keep up the good work. I have an fascination for past generations of British football stadiums. Your channel helps me with that!

Totally agree with you on the atmosphere at the new stadium: it’s getting there. There are a few campaigns which are being led by the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters Trust (THST) such as ‘return of the shelf’ which will hopefully recreate that section of noise that we once had at the old WHL. One of the interesting aspects when looking at the designs of the stadium roof and South Stand is that the acoustics reverberate continuously: noise levels are impressive when the fans get going. Thank you for your feedback @totspur6376. More to come on this channel in the new year with the FA Cup third round on the horizon.

Nostalgia is a warm feeling but the memories are somewhat distorted by youth. Most things in the past are rarely as good as we remember.

Subscribed!!!! This was beautiful no nonsense narration and great details on Leitch’s work. It’s wasn’t all about The Shelf then My first visit to the Lane in Jan 1993. Sitting on old wooden seats in the upper Park Lane and I even recall a standing paddock in the middle tier of the “new” shelf. It was gone when I returned the following year 😢 But I’m glad I was there in April 2019 for NWHL’s inaugural Prem match. She is a real beauty and watching her build turned me into a real stadium nut on Skyscraper City Busy watching Everton’s going up- hoping my local Luton Town’s Power Court breaks ground soon

The old WHL was so unique and had that special atmosphere as well especially for those european games under the lights. The new ground is something else, especially now with the fans identifying with the team and manager. Hopefully, something Everton can do to with their new ground (soft spot for the toffees) as they have been through a lot of similar pain to Spurs!
