(First) 3rd season at Chelsea : Won 2 cups, Semi-finals at Champions, second in the league with 15 point ahead of the 3th. What trend mate ? Hojbjerg has been a major game changer for the way we play, last season we had no natural defensive midfield now Hojbjerg has arrived we have somebody that can drop in between the centre backs and receive that ball whilst also playing line splitting passes and breaking up play

Lucas Lamela. Carlos. Bale. Plus dele Alli who can always brings something out of nowhere and bergwin. Mourinho's 4-2-3-1 has been amazing having serge and sergio push up the field and having moussa mostly fall back while Hojbjerg being very flexible and a leader! If you see most of their games it their avarage positions are slanted (higher left to lower right) with the changes coming in during the halftime. Mourinho is very tactical and all spurs fans can appreciate that. (Last game against man city the spurs defense focused on De Bruyne with Dier barely playing in the middle. Man city coudlve took advantage of that gap in the middle of the box, but pep decided to return Kevin back to his usual position and that allowed Dier, Hoj and Moussa to collapse on him not let him play like how he usual woudlve. Then there are the host of talent out on loan, perma injured or just out the squad. Something has happened to talent not being maximized since Ferguson left. It's not been a positive series of developments. These are pure talents that could play in any league any where, and thrive when they come to play--which doesn't seem to happen much any more at United. Maybe talent is not everything--which is maaybe what Ole is trying to prove, rather inartfully, with Fred + McTominay. He's choosing pure energy/work rate over talent when talent doesn't work hard enough to bring consistent results.

Agree with your top 4: Kane, Son, Hojbjerg (the best surprise), Ndombele (better late than never). With the potential of Bale and Reguilon and add to that the likes of Berwijn and Lo Celso on the bench, they would have a good chance... although the defence definitively remains the weak part: Dier and Davinson Sanchez do not reach the level of PL winners... Let’s see if Mourinho’s tactics can compensate for that.

You have got a couple things wrong though... Firstly, Alderweireld (4) plays on the right and Dier (15) on the left of central defense, not the other way around. Secondly, though Doherty was used as an offensive wing back for Wolves for years, more recently, Mourinho is using him on a similar role to that of Davies on the other side. Thats why often Davies is paired with Aurier, and Doherty is paired with Reguilon. Mourinho seems to want to always have a defensive minded full back (Davies on the left, and now Doherty on the right), so that his talented attacking fullbacks (Aurier on the right and now, even more notably, Reguilon on the left) can fly forward freely. Its also the reason why many people are saying that Doherty has been playing badly. He hasn't. He is only fulfilling a very different role to the one he had at Wolves. P.S. He's just been diagnosed positive for covid. This international break is such a disgrace...

Well, I would say they're just once top-class CB away from challenging. Not that they aren't now. But better chances with one more quality CB like Skriniar. Would throw in Sabitzer in there as well for that Sissoko role in midfield. That's a whole new enhancement. Sell Alli, Winks, Gazza, Lamela to raise some funds. I've always told people that Son's finishing is wayyyy better than his passing. He's a CR7 type of player. With previous coach, they had Son pass to Kane, as Kane was the central offense. Under Jose, Kane becomes the passer, which means Son has room to excel and unleash his true potential.

Basically he got the formula Klopp has been using for the past 2 years. Defensively Minded Line of Midfielders - 3 CDMs against stronger teams with 3 strong front 3 who can score on the counter. While against weaker teams, 2 CDMs and a stronger attacking force. Fundamentally, the overload of DMs makes it hard for any team to get through the middle.

That's two 'Football Made Simple' videos of Mourinho's tenure at Spurs (even they were very patchy last season & spent £100m on players to get it right this summer - not including their expensive loans) but not one video of Ralph Hasenhuttl at Saints (who spent 40% of what Mourinho spent on transfers, has a much less talented squad & are one point off supposedly amazing Spurs) even though you liked two of my comments saying 'do a Ralph Hasenhuttl video' from over a year ago... LAST summer they used this common used concept in football known as a "loan" in which a team doesn't pay a transfer fee for a player but the player plays for the other club on "loan" from his parent club. This particular "loan" had a 'loan fee option' in which Spurs would pay a transfer fee at the END of his loan deal (funnily enough that was THIS summer). The internet is a great resource please use it if any of this confuses you. Onto your other point; I was not including transfers OUT of the club to go against want was 'spent' by the club. If i was doing that then I would have had to include Southampton's £15m sale of Hojbjerg (i know it's really annoying not to be a hyper-partisan and not only focusing on Spurs & changing facts in order to make Spurs look better) meaning that if I had gone with that metric: my comment above would have said: "...Mourinho's tenure at Spurs (even they were very patchy last season & spent £86m on players - KWP sale included against total spent - to get it right this summer - not including their expensive loans) but not one video of Ralph Hasenhuttl at Saints (who spent 12m on transfers - sale of Hojbjerg & Harrison Redd included against total spent - & has a much less talented squad & are one point off supposedly amazing Spurs)" This actually makes Ralph Hasenhuttl's achievements look much better and makes Mourinho's achievements this season look a bit worse & buttresses my previous statement even more. Hobjerg and Sergio were the best pickups for spurs. Doherty was well needed since Serge played almost every game last season. With toby injured Joe Rodon has a chance to step up. Vinicius by far has been useless and hasnt show any potential to being kept by spurs I wouldve been infuriated if he was bought but being a lone I would let him slide. I woudlnt be suprised if Dele gets traded. Spurs are definitely gonna be in the champions league next year for sure! COYS!

If they bought Skriniar then they'd be challenges. But Toby and Dier are too slow and therefore need to play deeper which hurts their attack. Sanchez is error prone. Rodon unproven. Taganga also error prone but his mistakes are generally less costly (Excl Wolves goal conceded)
