that's true. practice your own music is a real thing, but metronome makes things a lot different if you are not used, by experience

Congratulations Paul, you are a Genie! This is an old video now but another great one in your long long list… No doubt this is and will always be a key concept to be improved that you have well explained with your simple great teaching and tips. Also I have been using Loopz for some years since i discovered it as an App and it is fantastic, i`ve just heard today you are the developer, my reverence to you.... surely there are many good ones but to me this is the best i´ve used, not only as a great substitute of a metronome but to use as a drum basement in making compositions.... Thanks again for your incredible, charming, unique and efficient way to teaching guitar playing and please carry on for all your unconditional and thankful millions of pupils... To me you have well earned a place among the Real Masters…

I just bought my first guitar only a couple of weeks back and found this channel. Thank you so much Paul, for making it easier for me to know things. Can you please make a video about the very basics of notes, rhythm (I don't know what a 6/8 time signature means), scales and chords? It will be super-useful to me. Thank you again!

Thanks for this. Earned a sub. I've been playing for about 5 years and sadly never payed much attention to timing due to being self taught and not playing with others much. Now that I'm meeting other musicians I realize I'm missing a key element in my ability to play with others and well pretty much I have to get on the ball and get back to basics

I've been faced the reality pretty early. After 5 months of playing guitar my friend needed me to record something Easy for his kinda pop trapt project. He gave up on me pretty fast and he made me SEE the transients on Abletone live how off I was. When and how much I was off lol. I play for 2 years and a half and my timing improved a lot but not to a level where I'm satisfied. And whenever I go to record for his songs I sometimes have to do 90 takes

The fewer notes per measure the more important timing becomes. Jumping rope and working a speed bag, will help you with your timing. You can't cheat the rope and you can't cheat the speed bag. This will also help you with your breathing. Set a metronome for 116 beats per minute, set a kitchen timer for 15 minutes, now jump rope for 15 minutes. Working with the drummers great. If your drummers name is Tommy Igoe. If you understand how to order drums. I want four on the floor, with quarter notes on the kick, an emphasis on the one and the three. Tell me what you want on the hi-hat, the snare, and the ride cymbal? Do you want some sixteenths on the bell? If he is a beginning guitar player who hasn't studied drums. He can't find his ass with both hands and a flashlight. He is busy working on how he looks. Drummers have better things to do than pack up their kits and help guitar players with their rhythm. Swing batter, swing.
