I followed you advice but since à I didn’t want to wait overnight I sprayed the filter with oven cleaner and put it right back to it’s place. Worked instantly. I rinsed it then filled the tank with vinegar and water and let the whole tank go trough. Worked perfectly.

What i find as well. Is letting it soak in Isopropyl alcohol for a few days. Maybe even slightly warmed up in a cup heat proof cup. Place the cup with Isopropyl Alcohol and the filter. In a pot with water after the water has boiled and allowed to cool down a bit and leave it for a few days. Maybe do this in a well ventilated area. It may also be advisable to warn customers that caustic lye is very exothermic. Even if you left the dissolved mixture cool. Putting those filters in caustic lye solutions could pose other hazards. Depending how badly plugged those are. You could bloat the top filter and damage it more or even saponify the oils between the crevices. It may not be very food worthy either. Vinegar does nothing to the coffee oil soap either. It may make it worse. You should replace them after 2 years anyways after common use. The sell for $17 on Amazon for a set. That's the single and the double shot.

It’s easier to just tap out the pressed cap gently with a hammer or mallet upside down, the little cap pops out and you can just rinse it out and press it back in 👍🏻

Nope they are pressed into a recess on the inside of the outside wall of those filters. I've seen many even soak them in water overnight and stick them in the freezer only to bloat the inside cap and destroy the filter completely

Managed to clean mine with boiling the basket in a solution of fresh water, course salt and vinegar ( about 1/3rd vinegar and 2/3rds water) boil for 20 min and does the same job, without toxic chemicals
