I understand your point and yes it would be rly cool but tbh atm in some activities like GMs you can play so aggressive, that you could use your void soul in small rooms and picked it up again, it should be no problem, even normal void soul is great for add control, My opinion. I would rather have this, though, than as a call back because they'd probably have to nerf the amount of souls you can send out by limiting it. I like the ability to send out as many as you want and literally suck off everyone in the area at the same time.

I think another good substitution and forgotten Warlock Exotic for this thing would be Chromatic Fire. On Void subclass, the explosive effect on precision kills would apply weaken to nearby targets, satisfying the loss of the more potent Void Souls on Briarbinds.

I used to use chromatic fire but now just briarbinds they’re too good and chromatic fire doesn’t even make a big difference in pvp or pve on dragonfly weapons cus they’re all already dead and dying to that nanites an underwhelming exotic and disappointing considering it was my favorite briarbinds is warlocks best exotic hands down

Touch feels absolutely amazing right now. I've been using it on my strand Titan with Banner of War and it's a monster combo. Just took it through King's Fall and Root of Nightmares and didn't have to worry about dying at all. The gun is finally in s really solid place.

I actually was pairing touch with briar myself starting yesterday when i got the exotic. Its a great combo for sure. I myself was using the void trace to get overshield with repulsor brace as well as volitile rounds as needed, as well as regeant for envious explosive light combo for burst.

@@zferolie its one of the best slugs in the game. Also just really good in general for ad clear (destabilizing + dragonfly / repulsor) and DPS (recon + vorpal) and it also gets ~95 handling with 70 RPM

For using it to damage bigger boss targets an important aspect is to first hit them with the Blight Ball because that makes them take and additional bonus 50% damage for 5 seconds making its damage much closer to a heavy during that time. (Though you will have to make constant pauses to reapply the Blight Ball.) And I do believe that damage is multiplicative with the Final Round buff, so you're dealing 2.4x times 1.5x damage for a 3.6x damage boost over it's base shots, and that's also before buffs like Radiant and Kinetic Surges are applied to push it even further.

actually feels like touch is way more usable than I thought it would be post buff, I've been running it with the new strand titan aspect to sustain its hp drain and to cover everything outside of melee range effectively and its been a blast.

You really feel like a witch, wizard, or warlock, with this combo. Using arcane, magical themed exotics to debuff your enemies and sew discord over the battlefield. There’s a lot of potential with the new and old exotics and pairing them with certain other ones.

i actually made almost this exact same build but i chose secant filaments instead of briarbonds. sitting back at a distant point in an empowering rift at max is so nice, scary but fun. can’t wait to get the artifact mod that gives you armor charge with repeated headshots when you have no charge, will help get setup started

Know I've been having a lot of fun with this, and I think this exotic pairs REALLY well with a Glaive set up. Can run it with ToM here too, but you can send out a soul, let it kill stuff/kill stuff around it, then charge a glaive shield, run in, grab it, and send it at the next enemy hoard/re-proc it on the same one. It's REALLY nice and I was running a master lost sector last night with this set up (after getting the arms/ using Levi for unstops and an auto for the barriers), and it would be REALLY fun juggling void souls in the thick of it with a glaive watching them tick down the enemies and grabbing all the breaches/orbs for health and grenades. You can get 2-3 'children' siphoning enemies at a time with this strat and it's really fun. Strongly recommend (the rest of the build is dang good, I'd just swap persistence for Remants so biggy charged void grenade lasts 7.5 seconds and procs Bolstering Detonation twice).

The most impressive thing about Touch of Malice now is the amount of super energy you get per hit. I’ll pop my well, damage a tier 3 boss with it, and have my well back by the time my well runs out. It’s a no brainer for a day one loadout.

destiny 1 had limited ammo, so it really wasn’t unlimited shooting until this season. ToM will definitely out dps with even a sunspot titan or warlock rift at least. the buffs really opened so many different opportunities to make it do well in end game

Just made a build with Briarbinds yesterday and can safely say it's the true "Summoner" class in Destiny right now, suppose Threadlings. I'm usually juggling 3-5 Void Souls depending on the length of an engagement. As a consequence, I'm not too focused on picking up orbs or breaches because I'm already keeping track of where I want my several void buddies to be. So I run Feed the Void instead of Chaos Accelerant (Void Soul kills proc Feed the Void btw and once Briarbinds are spun up, they do a non-neglectable amount of damage). This allows me to play more bunkered if I need, cast a rift, deploy void soul, proc devour while in safety instead of having to run out in the open or wait until most things are dead already. The playstyle is a refreshing take on the cover-to-cover tactics which I usually don't find too much credence with in Destiny. Deploy, clear new cover, push up, cast rift (that's how fast you can get it back), deploy, Void Soul waiting for you to pick it up, deploy, rinse and repeat. If you're fast and *Megaminded* you can litter the battlefield with AoE weaken and DoT without missing a beat in your shooting cadence, spitting out waves of Orbs and Breaches in the meantime. I enjoy watching my Void Souls slowly drain the life of some wretched acolyte and squeal in pleasure while it does so. Not very efficient in low-tier content (unless you're camping spawndoors with it) and I think I'd rather take the same build but with Stag for GM's. Perfect for everything in between. Most fun build I've played in a while. Love the direction exotic armor is taking this season as compared to *Triton Vice*

Just something to note, Touch of Malice not working with artifact champ mods isn't new. Didn't work in Lightfall, didn't work in season of the deep (I can't recall if this was an issue in Plunder or Seraph, also cause i dont remember those champ mods). I don't know what was up with that but just isn't a new issue, but at least now ToM has some way to deal with a champion for the forseeable future.

While other's have pointed chromatic fire out, I'd like to point towards sunbracers. With a good setup (probably better than mine atm) you can light the field on fire and focus down anything that survives while using ember of resolve and or a recuperation mod to round things out health wise.

the only gripe i have with the warlock exotic is you can’t call the void soul back just by shooting it. if they add that function, im content. also fun fact, if anyone else in your fireteam also has the exotic on, you can pick up their void soul and vice versa.

Touch feels great...but in harder content, Solar Stag Warlock is just so strong. The Stag DR seems to work on the ToM self dmg, the healing rift completely negates the self dmg and helps keep you alive while you shred through normal targets, and Restoration X2 serves the same purpose but more mobile and reactive. Not to mention that ToM charges wells sooooo fast so the Well uptime is great too. Radiant from melee's and radiant from Well gives ToM Anti-Barrier rounds which is great for those champs and the unstop from the blight is great, although it seems bugged to where you have to choose which effect the gun outputs. Either way it's a strong build for endgame, just needs it's bug fixes

the one thing I don't get about this build is why chaos accelerant and not feed the void, especially if you're not going to overcharge your nades in the gameplay, might as well get more devour sources and an additional fragment slot, as you don't have to waste it on orb pickup devour

They buffed chaos accelerant to two fragment slots (though it really should be 3), and picking up orbs is more reliable than getting ability kills. Other than Child it doesn't matter what aspects you run, it won't improve your build in any notable way

Fun Fact about Briarbinds I haven't seen anyone mention, you can actually juggle the void soul long enough to have multiple out at a time. I doubt it'll be that effective in end game content, but in testing a normal lost sector I managed to get 3 going at one time which is really fun!

A fun quirk with Briar Binds: You can stack Void Souls. If you have a Void Soul you picked up and then deploy your rift, even though it doesn't look like it, when you shoot your next enemy two Void Souls will fly out. Not pratical for applying weaken, but the buffed soul damage of two Void Souls does add up

I think ToM is one of those cursed exotics when overbuffing it will not necessarily make it good. Its flaw is so big that you need to dedicate a full build just to make it usable (exotic primary btw). I just don't see it becoming good without any reworks. Thats why i think it would be nice if Bungie would apply "overflowing with power" concept to Touch. Imagine putting a hive god into a gun and being able to contain it's power. Impossible, rigth? Instead of taking damage when you shoot the gun, Bungie should make it so you take damage if you don't shoot the gun (even if it's stowed). As if you need to drain Oryx's power all the time so he doesn't break out or some other shit idk.

fyi this is also a weapon of sorrow, run it with necrotic sand just chuck your orb at some ads while you shoot a major or champ and the poison kills count as weapon kills healing you, really fun in end game content when you can just watch a bunch of blind thrall die while you barrel stuff the luciant hive and never die

I've been using this on my Hunter with an omnioculus build. Whenever I'm low health and in real trouble, all I gotta do is dodge or smoke bomb and get 4x resist. It allows me to either get away, or get the blight so that I can blind the enemies and continue shooting them. Devour's also present. I never really liked Touch until now, and I'll definitely bring it with me for Crota's End.
