Touch Pi - Portable Raspberry Pi

In this project we're building a portable Raspberry Pi using the model A+, PiTFT 3.5” display, Powerboost 500C and a 2500mAh lithium polymer battery.
We designed this very simple case in CAD - It's a two part enclosure that's fasten together with screws. All the components are panel mounted and fit nicely in a small little enclosure.

I think this would be pretty perfect to work into a pipboy cast from fallout to make a functional pipboy. The gpio pins would allow for also some button controls like in the game, and the touchscreen for things that can't easily be accessed by the switches. Unfortunately this would require someone to program a UI for this, and I'm no great programmer. Let alone for UI stuff. :(

Honestly wish someone would do this, I'm gonna be getting into programming here soon, so I may do it for myself. Although I'd want it to do so much more than a pi would be capable of (heartrate monitor, GPS, etc). Hoping to get my hand on some smart watch to do this form of project.

This project has gotten me thinking of using it as a starting point for a portable GPS Pi for use in canoeing, biking or as a regular unit in a car or truck. Not to re-invent the wheel, has someone already done this as a project? Good project though.

Really nice work, congratulations! Please, may you tell if is there a possibility to damage the lithium polymer when it's packaged between the Raspberry Pi and the PiTFT display(as shown in the video) due the main chip heat? In my tests, the RPi, with heavy use, reaches 53ºC up to 60ºC (RPi internal temperature sensor), and a standard li-ion doesn't recommend to use the battery over 40ºC. I really wanna to reproduce this awesome work (I use a similar work but with external cellphone battery and external pocket keyboard), but I'm afraid about the temps. Thanks

Does anyone have any info into how I could go about making my own cell phone? I'm thinking of doing something like this for the actual body of the cell and then joining that to an old-fashioned handheld receiver from the 1930's for the earpiece/microphone. I think that would be a pretty cool project, almost like a retro futuristic phone.

i would make a super compact, portable windows 8.1 pc. i would also add a touch screen and a small querty keyboard. i would also use the pi2 instead of the pi1. i dont know if it could be done but it sure would be badass!

Hey guys, Was wondering about this project and am considering building one myself with a Raspberry Pi 2. My question is does the HDMI port actually work? Cause when you change the Programming on the Pi Hat (Kippah i think its called) i think it removes HDMI capability is this similar on this? No, not exactly. Noe is using the A+ which is a smaller version of the raspberry pi 1. The case would not fit the 2 or 3 since they are physically larger "B" models.
