I had the exact same problem with my smart phone: Archos Helium 5.5. I pressed the on/off switch for more than the 15 seconds. After about 20 seconds I stopped. Then I pressed the on/off button once more, and hey presto, it works. I have access to my phone. Thank you!

Method for new phones******* *Press the two volume buttons at the same time and hold it for a few seconds. *If your home button is working press home button and volume button simultaneously. *If this two are not working just wait for your phone drain the battery and voila it's switch off now. Then charge the phone ,after it becomes charged just hold power button. AND VOILA YOUR PHONE IS ON.
