Very nice final image. Never heard of a Bakewell tart but it looks pretty good to me. I have to agree, having an insulated warm room makes a huge difference to imaging comfort.

Your images are just crazy with that rig and your processing mate! Such a good soul neb rendition! Yes I dragged my bottom out of bed at 4:20 in the morning and luckily it was clear here in East Anglia so got some 'close up' footage of the disc of Mars passing behind a crater on the Moon, such a rare event and magical to capture it on a very frosty morning. Sorry it was cloudy for you Luke but the soul nebula is an excellent consolation prize! :)

Oh mate that's superb to hear!! :-D Really happy you got a meaningful experience out of it, - I did get a glimpse after it was over (the little clip at the end of the video, can barely see Mars lol - 300mm lens & dslr) but to even just look at it a few minutes and ponder was a really special feeling, man I love astronomy! All the best!

Cracking Final image, Luke. That Poseidon camera is doing a great job. I definitely plan to purchase the mono version of it sometime in 2023. I see Mars to the lower right of the moon in your image. YES, I did catch the occultation of Mars but the planet stayed just below the moon, but it gave me a great time-lapse of it passing by ... actually, of the moon passing by Mars. I did make a video of it.

Cracking image mate! I also went out early hours to image the occultation. I dragged my self out of bed at 4am to see nothing but cloud, but I persisted anyway in the hope I’d get a break in the cloud, and luckily I did 😁. A few other mates in our area were imaging and packed up around 2 when it clouded over. I set my alarm and I carted the 8” celestron cpc out and attached the 2.5 powermate to it, with the Zwo ars385mc to the scope and got some cracking views of mars disappearing and reappearing. Great vid as always 🌌

Hi Luke, great to see you getting a decent session on the Soul Nebula with the new Poseidon camera. Fantastic final image you achieved there during full moon conditions.BTW I managed to see Mars appear from the occultation between the clouds through a pair of binos which was a good view.

Great video Luke. The set up looks so sweet and the final results are, as always, staggering. I know you're using as meaty eq8 wedge but the piers that you built are in mind, also doing you proud. I'm setting up and leaving the gear under a telegismo but these last few frosty nights are getting me worried about leaving the setup outside as the inner skin of the shroud is also getting ice forming on it. Thankfully I've also got 3 blankets between the shroud and the gear but will start getting it all inside later today I think. The next year will be the one for the obsy so will be very interested in your final thoughts on your pier construction if you wouldn't mind. Thank Luke.
@lukomatico

Thank you so much Dan my friend! - I totally hear you about being worried due to the frost forming inside the cover, I'd be just the same mate! RE: Thoughts on the piers now we've had them a while, good question! - My honest feeling is they are brilliant! - Rock steady, easy to make and extremely cost effective - showing no signs of stress anywhere. I would say if ever need to make another pier, I'll be doing the same thing again, very happy :-) Hope that helps mate!

Luke, have you received the OAG for this camera. I watched the Player One install video and it appears the pick-off prism is fixed in one orientation and not rotatable, with an 11” SCT, sometimes getting a guide star is difficult and I need to rotate the prism at a different angle than the chosen framing angle of camera. Other than this fact, I am in the market for this camera combo. Oh, the Player One video also showed how to remove the filter drawer by pressing slightly sideways.
@lukomatico
@lukomatico Жыл бұрын
Hey there mate! - I actually have received the OAG now yeah! I've got a little bit of work I need to do with other products that have been sent for review first, but a video about it all will be coming! :-) Regarding the rotation issue - that's probably something that won't be possible with the player one, luckily it is a very big prism indeed so you could pair it with a big sensor guide-camera and likely always be able to find a star due to the large guide FOV it'd give you :-) Hope that helps mate! (appreciate the tip about the drawer too, thanks!)
