I miss Gardening By the Yard that was one of, if not THE BEST show HGTV ever aired! I learned to love gardening just from watching Paul every Saturday morning. I wish HGTV would bring him back!!

@@elaineteut6508 Good question! I'm over the everyone's a DIY/House Flipping/Off-Gridder/Home Improvement guru when really they need Mike Holmes to come in & fix everything they've destroyed. All the shows have the same "pick between 3 homes" format, it's boring. What good is "off gridding" if they can't grow their own food?

I have a few of those plants tucked in our gardens. We live at 3700 ft in Easter Washington state in a pine and Douglas fir forest. Cold snowy wintets with clay and rock soil, and a very short growing season.
