Touhou 11: SA - Extra Stage - Perfect (Reimu A)

This run means a lot to me. When I was a little, young baby Touhou player, I saw someone clear this stage and thought to myself how impossible it was and how I'd never see it with my own two eyes. Here I am today, a year and a something later, slowly progressing, and I have one more perfect extra under my belt. Although my first EoSD perfect extra will always mean the most to me, this will hold a high level of significance because I see it as a milestone of my efforts. I haven't decided who I'm going to dedicate this run to.

Keep going for it :D I think you could get this done in your two month goal. Especially if you have a no-bomb run under your belt, it will take you no time at all. Just, whenever you have some free time, run through the stage over and over and you'll surprise yourself how fast all the pieces will come together and make the run you want. That, and a bit of luck always help ;)

If you want to get better at Touhou, you need to play religiously for at least a year. You are on the right track by working towards normal clears. You'll pick up the ropes by watching other replays. Also, I hate TH11 too. I only play it for the extra stage.

Whoa congrats. I've done a no-bombs 1-death clear, but still haven't perfected it yet. I want to do it before my first year of Touhou, which will be in like 2 months. But it'll be okay if I don't, because I don't have much time for it anymore. But I'll perfect it someday, that's for sure. :3

It depends. I'm not sure on what, but each extra stage I've perfected have taken up a different amount of time. This one, along with the MoF extra, didn't me take too long. Perhaps around 20 tries from normally clearing the stage to this (excluding stupid deaths early in the stage that made me instantly restart).

... this is literally the only EX stage I can get past the first wave on. I even get to the "d*ck rocket" and then get brutally murdered by "Praise Helix" (sorry, I don't know the actual names and they were in Japanese in the video/my copy) Then again, there's surviving the first wave of TH07 Phantasm and then getting murdered by the "Pacifist SA" part.

Congrats man. Just a question. How many tries does it usually take you to perfect an Extra? It can take me over 80 tries to only a single try. Depends on the stage, I guess. Good luck on your next perfects.

Was this done with just standard keyboard input? Watching these replays, I can follow the patterns and know where exactly to go fast enough to be safe, but I struggle getting the actual movement done with anywhere near the precision my mind wants, and you perfect EX clearers display. How do you manage to move so precisely?? Is it really just practice and more practice until you can make the keyboard do magic?

I used a mechanical keyboard with black cherry mx switches. To answer your second question, it really does just boil down to practice. After so much exposure to the game, that movement becomes second nature. It's no different than learning anything else. I suggest taking it one step at a time. Start with getting your first normal 1cc, then after getting consistent normal runs, move to hard and repeat the process, experiment with extra, and so on. It'll always develop so long as you continuously strive to get better.

One of the reasons I'm here even watching this replay was to see how that card is supposed to be done without bombs. It's so simple in theory, your typical Lunatic stream baiting. Move slowly for a few waves, quick for one to create a gap, then fast back through the gap, repeat back and forth until capture. It sounds so easy when explained like that, but there's just some extra element of chaos to that particular card that makes me nervous and want to just safety bomb. Although I'm never going to clear SA's EX if I can't even make it to the boss without using any bombs.

Tbh the game was at 60 fps but it got recorded at 30 fps. Maybe, that guy changed it for technical reasons, who knows ?

Now this would have been a fun run to hear commentary on. I'm pretty sure I haven't played or seen this stage since the first couple of weeks of SA's release, and it only took me a day or two to perfect it back then. Thus I basically have no idea what happens in this stage anymore, haha. Maybe there were penises? I really don't know. Watching this video...ugh, right, I never played it again because it's boring as hell and has annoying music. Now you gotta do IN Extra ;D
