I guess this has to do with obsession with the characters rather than the games? As the games (only played several of them on PS4) are so challenging it can be played by any age group if they love to get their brains active. But yeah, obsession with the characters when you are older can be a different story.

Youre never too old to play touhou lmao i can guarantee most players are in their 30s if not older, its a series that is older than myself and surely you too. Theres nothing innapropriate or sexual about the series either, i think if you have a problem with older people playing this series you are projecting your own innapropriate attachment to characters really.

This is a song that perfectly describe Touhou fanbase today. All flower will bloom before scatter, everything good will come to an end. Nowadays, there's not much Touhou fans remaining. Most of the OG fans have grown up to raise a family or is too focus on work to care about it anymore. The kids that grown up in 2010s that was suppose to receive the torch have never even heard about Touhou, especially with Tiktok and other social media that is a hit trend nowaday. It's sad but just like Rock&Roll, Jazz, Card game or anything fun from a previous era. There's a time where we have to move on. But before that, let us enjoy our beloved fandom for a little longer.

Sorry for my late, it's sad to know fanbase are scatter. I know Touhou about six months ago, and 3 days ago I'm finally feel what Touhou is. Well, I'm just an new boy here, but just like you say before, many 2010's kids never heard about Touhou, but for me is because I not got the permission from my father to have a social media at least until I was age 13. It took 3 years tho for this franchise fans telling me about it. Maybe I will enjoy it until time remove it from my mind.

It's just now people are more familiar with the memes, music, fan games, and other spinoffs (like Memories of Phantasm) than the original games. Characters like Reimu, Marisa, Remilia, and Yukari have become like mythological figures for fandom culture -- most people recognize them without even knowing where they're from -- which is appropriate because Gensokyo always felt like a series of tall tales from a fictional mythology

I discovered this song while studying for my further pure mathematics exam. I can’t remember what topic I was studying but I do remember being enthralled by it. I had YT running on autoplay in the background, and through the will of God this Gem began playing. I immediately stopped studying and pasted the song’s name into google translate, took a note of it and downloaded it into my phone. Its such a beautiful song but it also makes me feel sad and nostalgic for memories that I don’t have.
