Maribel and Renko are two high school students from Japan, but not from Gensokyo. They are the only two members of their school's "necromancer club". They don't do sorcery or rituals like a necromancer's club might would do, but they investigate in different worlds, such as Gensokyo. None of them have actually visited Gensokyo, but Maribel has been in it in her dreams. Renko has the ability to tell what time it is in Japan by looking at the stars.

Their not from Gensokyo.Their both students form the outside world who attend a university and are part of an occult club that researches the possiblity of other worlds (I.E. Gensokyo). I reccomend reading their touhou wiki articles for more info.

The age difference is kind of big. I think they may even both be Grad students. I'm not sure if the system is the same as in America but the temperament of a high school student is very different then the temperament of a grad student, so that will heavily influence you're view of who they are and how they act.
