I adore all of the Hifuu duets. You and Lori fit so well for Maribel and Renko, from what little I've read about them. Been listening to this and "Satellite Cafe Terrace" on repeat today, and I can hear just how much love is put into every sung note~ The music albums and the game soundtracks have completely different feelings, and you've done them all up very well. The writing shouldn't be ignored-- it's such an amazing feeling to finally notice and pick out how many little references are packed into every one of these songs. Big kudos to both of you for such talent.

Yes, those sentiments are right on track~ I love the characters of the Sealing Club because they are relatable as outsiders who are deeply interested in Gensokyo, and inspirational in that they actually have the potential of going there. And I love their relationship with each other in terms of offering contrasting mindsets and skills toward one compatible goal, like the harmony of a duet. I love my real-life Renko for similar reasons: admiration for the various ways in which she is both different and similar/complementary to me, the way that we can passionately share interests like Touhou together, and the way she inspires me to want to do wonderful things with her. By the way, you're not wrong to say that we are friends, but we are also a couple. I could write so many more essays on how I feel about the characters that helped bring us together from that perspective. Renko x Merry = OTP!

And besides, as an aspiring Touhou fan myself, I definitely think that it is Maribel and Renko to whom you happen, among the other Touhou characters, to sympathise with the most...because they, just like you and your friend Lori-Hime, happen to be this incredibly close-knit and easygoing duo, delving deep into the world of Touhou so as to explore its greatest secrets and mysteries...and perhaps even getting a chance to meet Reimu and Marissa in person! How would that be for a Touhou fan like you? Besides, I thought you would have made a separate blog containing all your essays related to Touhou characters and how some of them appeal to you in certain ways.. and haven’t you ever given Reimu Hakurei a singing voice for her own theme song yet? ;v; I hope enough is expressed through my work~. I own and play all the Windows games, having 1cc'd all the shooters but LoLK so far. I'm not too knowledgeable about each character's particular scenarios and endings because I only aim to 1cc once because it's freaking hard (and screw the Extras), but I do like to play casually and get the experience of every game. I've at least dabbled in all the PC-98s. I adore the spinoffs like the photography games, but don't play the fighters often because I don't like the gameplay as much. I've read and collected all these beautiful music CDs, of course. And I've read most of the print works, except for the more recent manga (like Forbidden Scrollery) and Strange Creators. I should get around to it. I like being able to reference more specific/obscure details, but I mostly enjoy and want to convey the general conceptual vibe of the series and its characters' roles.

Oh, yes~ Thank you so much! ^^ Of course, like most people, my first exposure to the series _was_ through the music and fanwork, and I was a secondary fan for a few years. But, maybe around 2012 or 13, I soon learned that getting into the original source is beautifully worthwhile for infinite reasons-- including for being able to appreciate (and to create) music and derivative work even better.

The touhou CD's are set in a far future (100 or so years), where pretty much the world is slowly circling the drain (more species are slowly going extinct) and there is no more mystery in the world (also other things, like Japans capital moving back to Kyoto and Tokyo, where Renko is from, being considered something of a backwater). Maribel and Renko are two people who go looking for the supernatural in a world where it hid itself away a long time ago. There is more to it than that (especially in Maribel's case, maybe) but that's the gist.
