Actually I was thinking the same thing since the first time I’ve heard it when this dropped. I’m convinced that Touhou 14 Kishinjou ~ Double Dealing Character and Touhou 6 Koumakyou ~ The Embodiment of Scarlet Devil are both the most westerns games from the Touhou franchise. Look how many characters are from the European / western myths and legends. I mean, in EoSD you fight fairies, Vampires and a witch. In DDC it’s a mermaid, a werewolf and a dullahan. Three of them are based on western mythology. Even if Wakasagihime and Sekibanki can both be related to their Japanese homologous creatures, the rukorukobi for sekibanki and the ningyo for wakasagihime. Even if there are some eastern and mainly Japanese inspirations, both of these games seem very western to me.
