I just scheduled my surgery today! Not until December 7th (Pearl Harbor Day! 😬). I’m really nervous, as this is the first surgery I’ve had in my life! (I’m 67!). My hernia is about 50% into my diaphragm/esophagus! Have been having extreme pain! (jackhammer esophagus) Pain goes up my chest and radiates up to my shoulder! Nervous about the prospect of not being able to burb! Has yours improved at all? Thanks for posting this video. It helps to know I am not alone! Hope your journey continues to see improvement! 🤞🏼❤️

Hi there!! I can imagine how you are feeling and I know your sugery is not until December 7th but I do pray that it comes expeditiously for you. You can use this timeframe to prepare for your upcoming procedure and purchase all the items you need that will assist you in your healing post surgery. I am still not able to burp fully...just super teeny tiny burps. At first it was very strange for me not to do so but now it doesn't really bother me at all. I try to avoid as many gassy foods as possible so the gas does not build up in my abdomen and cause pain. You are so very welcome and I'm so glad my videos are able to help you. I pray for you a speedy and healthy recovery :)

Hi, I have a hiatal hernia and Gerd with horrible post nasal drip. I’m going to have surgery but I’m trying to decide between the Toupet Fundoplication or the TIF procedure with a hiatal hernia repair. I’m terrified of trading one problem for another and I don’t want to not be able to burp or vomit ever again if I have to. I don’t want to have to repeat any surgeries, I want to fix it the first time. Do you have any advice between the two different surgeries?
@thenurserx5 ай бұрын
Hello, I do not have any info on the TIF surgery as opposed to the the toupet fundiplication. I only researched between the nissen and toupe fundiplication. I can tell you with the toupet fundiplication that I do not have the ability to burp and vomit (as of right now) but it honestly does not bother me :)

What kind of liquids and clear drinks did you use? I did the Topete fundoplication yesterday
@thenurserx Жыл бұрын
Hi there! I used clear broths such a chicken broth and bone broth. If you feel yourself getting weak due to lack of nutrition then the bone broth will serve you great because it has protein in it. Also, I lived on popsicles, jello and italian icees which are amazing. I wish you a speedy recovery on your journey :)

Hi there, my energy levels now are great! I feel like a brand new person since my surgery. At 3 weeks out of surgery, my energy levels were pretty good. I was able to move around pretty good without assistance and take care of my family. I just made sure not to over do it or my pain would creep back in. At that time was son was 8 years old so I was able to take care of him with no assistance as my husband was back at work at this time.
