I found this place from my grandpa who would go here a lot to fix his Lionel trains, I did recently go here to get one of my ho scale up-boats fixed. He did a great job and I highly recommend going here. Full 5 stars!

My favorite multi-subject hobby shop. I'm a regular customer, and I always depart the shop with more than a few interesting and often rare items. Highly recommended!

As a senior in the early seventies I always loved postwar Lionel and I still have them and in the seventies added to them. Oh the orange boxes the smell of smoke and the motors. Although easy to build I always loved the HIGHWAY PIONEERS. As a kid growing up in Skokie Illinois I use to scavenge through the dumpsters at the Lindbergh factory on Monticello Ave.

Great video. Great to see he still has a great collection of old kits. Jim and his mom and dad were always one of the greatest people in the business. I sold two collections to him over the years. (funny I was thinking of Jim and all the fun times we had at shows and hanging out at his shop growing old, not growing up though!)

I know Jim for many years he buys collections from people who have passed and he has a great selection but the thing is the best time to go there is when he's had a show for example mosquito con in Wayne New Jersey he takes up 12 tables and he hasn't filled with models as high as you can reach any travels all over the Northeast anything within 3 hours drive he's there and he's got a fantastic collection and it changes constantly He's a fair guy he has a good selection and at the shows it's even bigger because he has stuff there that is in the warehouse that he doesn't put in the store so keep an eye out for the shows in the Northeast especially mosquito gun That's where you'll find him with a collection of models that you wouldn't believe shows up

Funny, I just learned of Ridgefield Hobby a few days ago - despite growing up only 20 mins away in central Bergen County!!! 4:40 - 1st time I've ever seen a '58 Edsel model!! AMT no less!! That place is a Model Museum!!! Reminds me of when I walked into "The Loose Caboose" in Bogota NJ 25-30 years ago - I've never seen that much Lionel products in one place!!! And it's only a few miles away from this store!!!

@@jackhunter150 it reminds me of a model shop I used to go in as a kid it had a long entrance with windows either side with glass cases inside all the way to the door jammed packed with built kits I spent hours looking at them. When you went in there was always a distinct smell not horrible like I’m guessing a musky smell loved it went years ago pity

My dream is to go into a place like this and be paid to sort and organize everything for max space and ease of access while still displaying it all and not hiding it away high in the rafters like some of those AMAZING kits are in the room behind the door and downstairs. i wonder how he even go that much stock without going out of business lol

A shout out from Scandinavia. This brings me back to my youth. We barely have any such shops here nowdays. Even the bigger corporate brand toy stores that used to at least have one shelf of some generic plastic model kits are more or less gone. It's all online here now. All digital with no cash and it sux. How I miss the days of going into these type of stores and feel the smell, touch the boxes, look inside and see the model before deciding if to buy it. Even as far as online goes the choices are few. We're mosly left to order from Ebay at insane scalper prices + shipping and then insane EU VAT on top of that already high price. Especially if you are into sci-fi models. Sure some are released at retail price on Amazon, but they are quickly sold out and then sold by scalpers for at least twice the price or triple. Sometimes if lucky one can find some models online from within an EU country, like maybe Germany and at least not have to pay extra VAT. However most sci-fi models can be found from either UK or US and they end up cost a lot with shipping and then VAT on top of both the models price and the shipping fee. Yes, the VAT is even on top of the shipping fee. Same if order some Bandai kit from Japan. Usually ends up costing triple of the original retail price, if availbale at all. I even went to Copenhagen the capital in Denmark (since it's our neighbour) this summer and could not find a single one of the hobby stores I used to shop at in my youth. All gone. Even the corporate chain toy stores like BR was gone. There were two lego stores, but that was about it. No plastic model shops that I could find. Such a shame. Don't ever go down the path we have gone here with digitalizing it all. The cash free society were everything has to be on apps in your phone. Fight it as long as you can. It has killed all the fun. Killing off the centers in cities. Mostly it's just banks, real estate offices, some restaurants and coffe houses down town now. Most of them don't accept cash. Only payment via apps like swish or CC. I can not even go to an exchange office and exchange my countrys cash/currency for another countrys cash currency. I have to use my CC there to get another countrys cash handed over to me. Banks don't even handle cash here anymore at all. You go into a bank and can not even deposit or withdraw your own money over the counter. At least where I live. Still you are forced to have an account, have your payments go into those banks and then forced to have a card and apps to access your bank accounts from your phone or PC. Baks basically hold your money hostage. That to me is part of the whole killing off physical retail stores as well. It's all part of the same process and evolution. Why go to a store and shop, when you still have to pay the same way? You might as well shop online with your CC or app, is the mentality I meet daily. Then slowly the coffehouses will die out too, since why even go down town and sit at those, when there is no people or movement to look at while having a coffe? You might as well sit at home and stare at the wall. City centers become like dead cities after an apocalypse. Except for a few bigger cities for a few months during the summer holiday season when tourist invasion arrive. The rest of the year it's pretty barren. If your city, on top of that, has some larger mall nearby, they few physical stores who still operate in your area are all located there, mostly big chains and the same few large corporate brands in every mall, so then the city center is really dead.
