Tour de Pakistan 2023: Cycling from Islamabad to the Pakistan/China Border (P1)

A group of friends and keen cyclists go back to their family roots to do something very few (if any) have done; cycle from the Pakistan capital, Islamabad, to the the top of the highest paved road (known as the Karakorum Highway or Silk Road) and finish at the Pakistan/China border.
In Part 1, we show the beginging of the journey from the UK and capture the first couple of days as we settle in, build the bikes and go for a epic bike test up the awesome Monal climb!

Taking the bike was easier than going to Spain or Gran Canaria; Emirates and BA allow you to take your bike box as part of your luggage allowance; very convenient and hassle free. No problem with the boxes once we landed in Islamabad - everyone has this negative perception, which is understandable, as not many have cycled in Pakistan, but you’d be surprised how easy going it is!
