You are welcome! Day 3 was long but also one of my favorites. Have you done the TMB? are you planning/dreaming about it? :-)

Ciao German! I've been following your videos and I find them very informative and helpful. I'm doing the TMB this September 14-23 , hopefully the weather is good. I had the mistake of booking refuge Dela nova in Les Chapieux instead of Bonhomie like you did. Do you think I can get to Les Chapieux from Les Contamines before 5pm?
@GermanDiManzo2 жыл бұрын
Ciao Noel! Refugio de la Nova (you can see it in the video as the place we stopped for coffee) looks like a nicer place than Bonhomme ;-) So no mistake made in that sense. You will have a long day but is doable. We were pretty much delayed because of the snow, but you will see the Contamines to Les Chapieux listed as a common stage in many TMB guides and websites. If you feel you are not the faster hiker just consider getting an earlier start! Have a wonderful trip!

German. I've watched these videos over and over. Love them. Do you know of a train or bus that will take me from Chamonix to Les Contamines to start the trip from there?
@GermanDiManzo8 жыл бұрын
Thank you Tricia! Glad you liked them :-) I understand that to get to Les Contamines using public transportation you have to take the train to St Gervais (45 minutes from Chamonix) and then a taxi / transfer from there. There's no train station at Les Contamines. Hope that helps!

German Di Manzo That's perfect thanks. Do you think we could combine stages three and four if we take a shuttle up to Ville des Glaciers to cut out that portion and then take a chairlift from Rifugio Maison Vieille to Courmayer. Would that be too much for one day? We will be there in September so no snow. I was telling my husband last night. I've been talking with the guy in all those videos we've been watching!
@GermanDiManzo8 жыл бұрын
I think it can be done! You will have a 12.5 miles (20 kilometers) stage. Regarding elevation you will have a climb at the beginning, from Ref Des Mottets to Col de la Seigne and later after Lake Combal. The chairlift will leave you in Dolonne I think, about 15 min walk from Courmayeur. Ref Elisabetta will be a good place to stop for lunch as there's no much else from Col de la Seigne to Maison Vielle. Isn't that great for planning!? I saw Leigh-Anne Marie video quite a few times while planning our trip and it's funny to get to talk with her too :-)

Thank you for posting, love your videos of TMB. You mention that your intended destination on stage 2 was Des Mottets. So you were able to get a bed at Ref de la Croix du Bonhomme without a reservation?
@GermanDiManzo6 жыл бұрын
Brad G we changed our minds a few days before while considering the news about snow that year and called ahead. Bonhomme has a lot of beds, some upstairs, some below the main dining room, so I doubt it gets full. But never a bad idea to call ahead the day before if you are going without reservations. Your previous ‘host’ might help you with the call.

German Di Manzo thank you for your reply! Your videos have been very helpful as we plan our hike.

Hi. I've just uploaded my trip of the TMB. You might be interested in watching and bring you memories of your own trip which I enjoyed watching.

Thank you Garry, for sharing it! I started to watch it and is nice to see it from a different perspective. As you know we didn't take the higher route the first day (that bridge looked like a traffic jam!). Now I feel like I need to go back hehe. Your ascend to Bonhomme also looked very different! I see we climbed all those rocks that were covered under the snow!
