Hell yeah! Learning about camera history with your experiences as a repairman is so awesome.

Thanks for the support. I'm trying to make this classic 35mm manual camera channel different than most of the, "here's how to take it apart" photography channels, by adding history about the 60's, 70's, 80's and my opinion about the camera designs of that period.

What a wealth of knowledge. I recently won a ebay auction for one of these and now I have a deeper understanding of the inner workings thanks to you.

Hi, can you tell me what kind of tweezers you like? I'm sure you found some that feel nice and last.

My first vintage camera is this one. I just bought it in unknown condition. At the very least now I can crack it open and know what everything is. Thank you

@@Nickporter17 Good luck. Don't be in a hurry. Move slow and take pictures of everything as you take it apart, just in case you get lost. LOL

My heart just sank. I accidentally had the shutter charged while loading film. I released it and the leader dropped down between the shutter blades. JUST LIKE YOU SAID IN THIS VIDEO 😳Then I stupidly just yanked it out. Now, there's a slight gap, less than half a millimeter, between the top rear curtain shutter blade and the blade below it. I'm not sure if it was there before. But, the other one I have has perfectly flush blades. I finished loading it and took some shots and it doesn't seem to be affecting the shutter. So, wondering if there's anything I can do to make sure I don't ruin it from here? Or, is it just a matter use it and eventually it will foul? I was planning to take it apart to do the shutter service at some point in the near future anyways.

Half a millimeter does not sound too bad. I have seen much worse. I don't think the shutter will self destruct over time with use. It's a shame it had to happen. I've seen too many of these FE2 and FM2 shutters damaged this way. It's not a very good shutter blade design. Your high speeds might be effected. There's nothing to be done, but live with it. Replacing the shutter or blades will be expensive and probably not worth the cost.
