I recently went on a cruise and one of the ports was Belize City. I loved it. The people were so welcoming. People tend to think that just because a place doesn't have tall buildings or perfectly paved streets that it is "ugly". The beauty is in nature and the people. I'm from Honduras, so I'm used to seeing cities like that. But a white person who has never left the suburbs doesn't know how to appreciate simple beauty.

I was just there. The worst threat is to the shocks and struts of your car. Get just outside the city, and there are several different types of beautiful forest, clear rivers, amazing pyramids, and kind, gentle people. I'd rather be in Belize City than any big American city.

I was born and raised (my early yrs) in Belize City. This video doesn't do justice for the beautiful places Belize has to offer...white sand beaches & turquoise ocean on San Pedro & Caye Caulker; Belmopan, Corozal Town, Placentia, etc. video shows a ride through a small part of Belize City. Please don't negatively judge Belize and it's warm, hardworking, mannerly people based on this video. There's much more to it than this. It's like only seeing parts of dwtn L.A. and saying California is bad.

Belize is a beautiful country, I'm from the Bahamas but my wife is from Belize City. I enjoy it very much when we visit. Every country has great and horrible parts to them, Belize and Bahamas are no exceptions. Americans and Europeans are ignorant about other countries, period.

The problem with this kind of video and the opinions of such persons is that they go the the worst part of Belize City, which is the south side and conclude the entire Belize City look like a ghetto. The Belize metropolitan area is almost 9 square miles and the south side is less than 2 square miles. They should cross over the old swing bridge, which by the way is a historic bridge, and drive north along the Caribbean Ocean. They would be very surprise of the difference, how nice it is. Also, many people especially tourist are not aware that Ambergris Caye is also part of the Belize District, and it is very nice there. I would think that for a nation less than 40 years old and with a national debt of less than 2 billion dollars , lots of natural resources the future looks promising for us. Why else would thousands of people call Belize their new home every year ?

It's funny how a video depicts things. Looks like a scary place to be. But get out of the car, walk, talk to the nationals. If there is one place where "beauty lies within" it's this place. The people are amazing, the food is outside of the American world. No one will understand how good the food is without tasting. Makes you not want to live in America. All American food tastes like you're eating cancer after Belize. Never met friendlier people or a better environment in my life. Hoping to retire here and trying my damndest. When I got back, my life was actually changed. Can't explain it, but my entire outlook on life is different. Everyone should experience Belize. And not just a resort, go to San Pedro, go to Belize city, go to Belmopan, and for sure go into the jungle (cayo)💪. Watch for jaguars and viper snakes.

I apologise to the tourists he has in his van. Belizeans are not all illiterate idiots like this driver portrays. As to the condition of our city back then, well thats a reflection of how our leaders view us....like thrash. True. Belize city was always much sketchyer than the rest of the country, and from what I gather it has gotten worse, thanks to the importation of the American culture of guns, gangs, and crack. In any case, there isn't thay much to see there. aside from the swing bridge. It looks lot like a larger Version of one of Belizes small towns. One does not go there to see a city, One goes to see the countryside, with it's beautiful nature, and it's (mostly) wonderful people.
