So smart to propagate as many plants as possible to save money! Like you said, there are always so many projects to do on a homestead, so doing things creatively for cheap frees up money for the big projects. You've got me curious to research if I can propagate my rosebushes. I had a number of moss roses come back, even though they're sold as annuals. I've had a heck of a time trying to get trees to grow, because it's so dry and prone to drought here. Your nursery idea looks good. I went on a farm tour years ago where they did something similar and used black tank to help capture the heat from the sun to help heat the space.

You should try to propagate those rosebushes! I think july is the time to try, but you should check some rose propagation videos for advice! I have so many cuttings and seedlings, I really hope they´ll survive the first winter! I was also lucky to find a whole lot of great plants on a sale!

@@myswedishcottagegarden I'm going to go get some rooting compound for some other clippings I have and I'll ask them about the roses. We've had a couple of hard frosts, so I've got some time to research, now. How is your electrical and inside work coming along in your home? Are you ready for winter?
@myswedishcottagegarden2 жыл бұрын
@@deniseheupel8814 almost nothing has been done inside the house yet. But hopefully the electrician can come before Easter.

In my experience (Scotland, E. coast, almost 58 degrees N), ivy can take over the garden. Ash trees are one of its favourites for growing up fast, I know, I have seven including one as big as yours. It just means more time and effort would be needed for controlling it.

True. Here though, it is a little bit colder and doesn´t take over that fast. They can climb and grow strong for sure, but I have never seen it take over a garden in my area/climate zone. For me it is a good thing that it is green through the winter since I don´t have any other plants with winter interest so far. However, many will be planted the next few years.

You already have a lot of plants! Are you very north in Sweden? Or more in the south? I ask because of the different climates you have in Sweden
@myswedishcottagegarden2 жыл бұрын
Yes, the first thing I did already before I received the keys was to start taking cuttings :-) My cottage is located in the middle of Sweden, a little bit mor south than north.
