Oh my goooosh! The sketchbook you're flipping through during the 13 minute mark - you have a recreation of a drawing from Rockefeller on Deviant Art, who was my best friend at the time. I sat next to her when she drew that one, she was using my green prismacolor. What a very small world the internet is! Looks like she's taken the artwork off her Deviant Art, but I was able to find mine through her's tonight, so thank you for that stroll down memory lane. :) Very happy to know artwork we were making here in Texas was impacting another 18 year old across the sea.

Ahhh!!! Thats so freakin' COOL!! I looked her up a couple years ago and found her still making art and I was so happy! I reached out to say hello and embarrass myself with a mini fan girl moment hehehe I absolutely love that you stumbled across her work and in turn your old work via me! haha!

Your sketchbooks from the mid 2000s gave me all the feels! we are about the same age and this felt like looking through a friend's sketchbook from that time period, and lots of livejournal vibe imagery! SO good.

Minute 12:45 I would scan the handwriting and turn it into a background or a piece by itself ;) lol. I started my journey a bit older than you did so I am at that 'levelling up' stage at the moment. It's so exciting! Thank you for sharing your journey. It is very inspiring ❤

We had the same music taste. I was a 'rudegirl' in year 10-12 😅 I fell in love with Bowie when I was 4.

That drawing right after Jethro looks just like Noel Fielding 😂 A very talented teenager you were. 😊 That wasn’t sarcastic lol. The other sketches look like Freddy ❤

Thank you so much!! I'm glad I could give you a burst of inspiration!! When I was in grade 7 we didn't really have the internet much, so it was a good way to just experiment without getting intimidated by all of the other artists around the world! Have fun with your art! Keep the passion burning

Aw this was great! Such fun to see the progression. Most of my really old sketch books are lost to the fabric of time which is probably for the best 😂😂

haha, there was a point in time where i was at an age that was just toooooo close to the age I was when I made certain drawings, and I tore them out of my books because I was embarrassed! I wish now that I never did that! I'd love to re-live my ultra cringy experimental drawings!!

@@SophieMcPike I had folders upon folders of drawings that my mother kept but when I was a teenager I snuck them out and threw them away 🙈🙈 ah well 😂

I really enjoyed watching this. So great to see where artists come from and how much they learned over time! Sadly all my journals and art projects from school are lost, but I still got a planner-thingy from year 11/12 in which I drew a lot of strange things. Your emo-phase/oldschool rock obsession made me giggle a little, I did go through the same thing hahaha 💚💚

So sad that many of our earliest artworks get lost or thrown away!! ahhahah! Damn, those mods and rockers were MY LIFE! Music is still incredibly important to me, but I've moved on from drawing ONLY Freddie Mercury (although, a sneaky Freddie drawing does slip into a sketchbook from time to time) XD

So I don't believe in talent but like... Rude how good you were in elementary school LOL
@arioctober2 жыл бұрын
(In case someone doesn't understand what I mean... Drawing is a skill that anyone can learn, there's no such thing as "natural talent" that you're born with or blessed with by The Gods lol.)
@SophieMcPike2 жыл бұрын
hehehehe! Thank you!!! Big compliment!!!!! Totally agree re: talent doesn't really just exist - when someone says "Oh you're so talented" sometimes it diminishes the 30 years work I've done in skill building! I know they don't mean it like that, but yeah :)
