Dear Tammy Pausch Manson, Thank you for sharing this inspirational room. I like come again soon, a sort of tribute to Disney as when you are leaving on I-4 it says See You Real Soon. You were very blessed to have such a remarkable man in your family. Eric

I JUST listened to my local library's copy of The Last Lecture, intrigued by the title (wonderfully narrated by Erik Singer ). I'm an audiobook narrator myself and Randy's book is just the kind of non-fiction that I love. It is quite obvious that Randy was an uncommon individual. His life story is inspiring. SO inspiring. I am astounded by the amount of life he packed into 47 short years . I cannot describe the WONDER, AWE, and EXCITEMENT of being able to see this video after listening to Randy's description of the room. Thank you, Tammy for giving us the guided tour! I had imagined what it would look like as it was described, and now I can put those out of my mind as I've now see the real thing. I LOVE IT!!!

Elizabeth, I am touched by your story and please accept my deepest condolences in the loss of your son at such a very young age. I have *no* doubt that indeed they have met in heaven... :-) I, too, have a Chris (well, Christopher).. my kids are now 27, 25 and 7 years old... 28 is WAY too young to leave this Earth.. HUGS!!

Hi - This is Tammy Pausch Mason ... A few responses...a. Wiliam Shatner indeed does go by Bill Shatner :-) b. The house was indeed, sadly, sold....however, I was able (with CMU's supreme help) to save the artwork on the walls...almost all of it...c. Yes.. Randy was very special and unique.. and we miss him terribly... Thanks for all of your responses and comments. :-)

Tammy, we may never meet but my son, Chris saw the story on Randy sometime between September and February. He called me. He was both touched and in awe of your brother. On February 29th, 2008 Chris died unexpectedly. I know that your brother gave him a very special message. Chris's 29th birthday would have been on July 24th of the same year. Randy left this world the next day. I hope, and I believe, they met in heaven. Thank you for sharing this and hugs to you and your family. :-)

Sadly, the new owners dramatically remodeled and updated the house. The inside is no longer like it once was.... however, ....there is videography of the room/house as it was... and I have almost all of the artwork that Randy, Jack and I did stored away until I can figure out the best way to display it. :-)

Randy was right when he said he won the lottery with the parents he had. Having phenomenal parents isn't a prerequisite for success but if you have it, you certainly get a head start in life.

Thank you for the tour! Randy was an inspirational man. I just listened to his lecture for my humanities class and I'm glad I did. I love his reference about brick walls, so true. I must ask, you didn't mention what the heart on the wall was for, Im guessing his first true love :) haha so cute. May Randy Rest in Peace

The house address is 9441 Dartmouth Road... however.. the inside to the house has been dramatically remodeled (it looks great!) and the house is no longer in our family. Both Randy and I graduated from OMHS (mine was the first class to attend all 4 years there). Go Scorpions! :-)

I am quite late replying to this, obvioulsy... But @ Sano22n you're the one kidding, right? Lol That is the quadratic formula. It is the formula that you use to solve quadratic equations. :) Anyway, @ Tamara Mason thank you for doing this video. I have always tried to imagine what the room looked like. I know in his last lecture he showed some pictures of it during the speech. He also described it in the book The Last Lecture, but to see it is so cool. I think that everybody should see that speech and should read that book. The Last Lecture is my favorite book. It is so inspirational. :) I was brought to this video because in one of my college courses as an assignment we had to watch his speech, and although I have seen it at least a dozen times, I was happy to watch it again because it is just that good. That video directed me to this one. I'm glad it did. :)

I go to Oakland Mills High School and it's mind blowing that I'm within 5 miles of the house. I still wonder where the house is.

Yeah, it doesn't make sense at all. Just like how "Jim" doesn't make sense as a nickname for "James." Or "Bob" for "Robert."
