Man, what a great mall that must have been in it's heyday! Reminds me of the train they used to run at the Brookfield zoo in Illinois. Sadly that was removed in the late 80's or early 90's I believe.

I used to shop there occasionally (I live in nearby Wooster). There was once a hobby shop there that sold model trains (mostly HO-scale and G-scale). I bought an HO-scale Erie Lackawanna SD45 diesel locomotive (brand-new, still in the box) for $75 a few years ago. The last time I went up there in 2019 (before the pandemic), the store was no longer there.

I had lots of good memories from this place. When I went there as a toddler, the events I would participate in. Every year my mom would take me here to get shoes for school and afterwards we would ride the train all around the mall. I remember a model railroad shop being here. It is so sad to see this place out of business.
@kyleb063 жыл бұрын
I agree. Unfortunately I never got to see this mall in its prime because I live 5 hours away. I have a feeling I am going to be very fortunate I saw it at all here in a couple years. They even disabled the traffic light for the mall's entrance and made it so southbound traffic on OH-83 can't turn into the mall anymore! T's like somebody doesn't want this place to succeed anymore.

UPDATE! - as of July 2022 - This train is gone, all the track has been ripped up. And all the mini signals have been removed! Unsure if it all was sold or scrapped?
@kyleb062 жыл бұрын
That's unfortunate, this was a concept I always wished the malls around here had when I was little, lol. Hoped it would come back. But, if your mall can't make money, you can't run a train either. Never did hear anything on where that all ended up, had no idea they tore it out.
@-northeastohiosirensandtra56412 жыл бұрын

From what I was told by someone at the Lodi Railroad Museum, the train, trackage, and signals were sold, and they are now in our neighboring state to the west, Indiana.

You should do a follow up on this. And if they decide to take down the signals, you should save them. I may be able to start driving and sometime within a year or so, I should have my license. Then, I may be able to go see this while it's up. I would like to save one or two of them before they scrap em.
@kyleb062 жыл бұрын
Well, two unfortunate things. 1. I live 5 hours away and just happened to be passing through on my way to PA. I'm rarely ever in Ohio. But that doesn't matter, because 2. They've already ripped out all the signals, and most of the tracks as well. They hauled off the train about a month or two ago. No idea where any of it is going.
