Way more than a 3 million dollar job! Holy sh** elevator are expensive. Although it's always sad to see vintage elevators meet their demise, OTIS is doing an absolutely amazing job with this modernization!

They sure did! Wait til they’re finished! The mod. is supposed to make the elevator system MUCH more efficient than the old Selectomatic system. Although it‘s obviously sad to see the old 1’s go, the mod. was much needed for (especially on weekdays, because that building gets REALLY busy!).

According to Floridian Elevators the mod was $3 million dollars but I think the Gen2 alone was $200,000 because there's 15 elevators in this building

To be honest, those LCD P.I displays dont have much on it besides directional arrow and floor number and dont match,unless they added a background and text on it. Other then that, the OTIS digital segmental indicator would have been better.

If this whle mod was over $3,000,000.00, then I'm guessing the Otis Gen2 was (3,000,000 / 15) dollars to install. Based on my calculations a mod for OTIS Gen2 costs on average $200,000.00. That is cheap for a high quality lift

While 17 m/s seems practical for the average mega high rise skyscraper in Dubai, it will do no good for the giga-high rise skyscrapers forecasted to be in development within the next 25 years. If that's so, Otis should make a new Elevonic system for all rises including Gen2 & hydraulic. I'll call it "Otis Elevonic 421". For destination dispatch add the C in front of the 421 or M421 & for compass plus add the P after the C. My key: 421H - hydraulic or hydrofit 421G - Gen2 421MR - Mid rise for up to 40 floors 421HR - High rise for 40 - 100 floors 421SR - Sky rise for 100 - 400 floors M421 - Mods for Elevonic 421 Option for 421USR to go over 400 floors & for freight elevator with over 50,000 lbs capacity The 421H should go up to 1 m/s & serve up to 7 floors The 421G should go between 0.75 & 2.5 m/s & serve up to 28 floors (my preferred full limit for MRLs) & Gen2 should have the option for non-mods to also have motor rooms if the architect wants the Gen2 not to be MRL The 421MR should go up to 5 m/s The 421HR should go up to 10 m/s The 421SR should go up to 30 m/s but USR should go beyond 30 m/s For freight elevators of any rise of 421USR they should go up to 12 m/s if the capacity is under 100,000 lbs This would be my suggestion for OTIS in the future if they'd like to come up with another grand Elevonic system. In addition any elevator on the elevonic 421 system should have the option for *Series 7* which would be like Series 2 from the 90s but the indicator has a blue background & could come in square, rectangle or standard acme arrow format with white numbers & arrows if applicable. For mods it shall be possible for traction or hydraulic elevators to be converted into MRL & keeping the original elevator car interior if the architect of the building chooses it Also OTIS should use new & more powerful but smaller motors for USR & SR versions of the Elevonic 421. See how my theory would work well for any building of any type?
