solara2 that's a joint north and south Korean meeting room. Obviously the UN oversaw its construction and probably chose Samsung as their ac supplier. I'm sure they have Chinese air condtioning brands in north Korea.

I find it funny that if you go to JSA from the South, you need to go throught several UN checkpoints, you cannot touch anything, even filming is restricted. When you go from the North, there is only one checkpoint and you can pretty much point your middle finger to Americans and S. Koreans, Touch everything you want (move chairs, sit on them). You can even stand just in the border, under 1 meter (2ft) from the concrete slab (which marks the countries' border), while visitors from the South have to be at least 10 meters (30ft) away from the concrete slab.

I'd still be perfectly happy enough going from the South Korean side. At least I wouldn't be bombarded with propaganda constantly, and I'd be safe in the knowledge that my money isn't going towards building nukes and missiles.

DPRKsongsInFinnish That's because Americans and SK soldiers are more civilized. It's not like they'd aimlessly shoot tourists by simply taking a photograph nor made hand gestures that could be deemed offensive. There's a reason why touring JSA from the other side is much stricter🙄

DPRKsongsInFinnish thats because America won't start a needless war just because of someone's ettiquete but the north will.

lifeforce If they won the war, they would take the South but they didn't. The truth was nobody won the war. The North invaded the South 1st, then the U.N. led by the U.S. to take over the North, then China stepped in. So they and the U.N led by the U.S. agreed with the division. Let just say China won.
@Chubzdoomer
@Chubzdoomer 8 жыл бұрын
+sgcl10658 Exactly. The North struck first by invading the South in hopes of "uniting" Korea. Then the U.S. deployed reinforcements and beat their asses all the way back near the Chinese border. If not for China's intervention (in which case they pushed the U.S. all the way back near the South/North Korean border), there would be no North Korea today. In short: China saved their asses. North Korea was manhandled by the U.S. up to that point. It's comical that they pretend they "won" the war, when in fact they were just bailed out by their "big brother."
@sgcl10658
@sgcl10658 8 жыл бұрын
Chubzdoomer Yup but their "big brother" is no longer fond of them anymore as they invted the president of the South to be honored guest at their anniversary of the PRC last year.

many actually believe in the propaganda from the north. Korea won't ever launch a nuclear weapon cause the regime knows they wouldn't survive and they love sex and pizza way too much. plus the DPRKs nuclear weapons are not as powerful as most in the media proclaim they are. The regime needs the US help but if they do get our help it's the end of their regime and they know it too.

+Northkorean kp (DPRK) I'm not talking about the Korean War-I'm talking about now. North Korea endlessly threatens South Korea, the U.S., and Japan with military action, including nuclear strikes. I refuse to travel to North Korea because I do not want to give Kim Jong-un's regime the money it needs to continue developing nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles.

I did 2 trips to Korea in 2008 North and South and visited DMZ from both sides. The North were more relaxed about what I could do on the DMZ while the US Army on the south side had a long list of 'don't do this don't do that'. Though the presentation from the North Side gave me the same crap as in this video.

Did you find out if the two sides co-ordinate touriist groups in order to avoid unpleasant moments? That is one thing I am wondering, after seeing videos from both sides... (Funny how there hardly are any ROK or US soldiers nearby when a tour groups visits the blue building from the North..

*Propaganda is awesome! While this guy sweats what little hydration is left in his body, the ROK and American soldiers enjoy air conditioning, and all the other comforts of modern society just a few yards away.* All the words in the world can not surmount the obvious visualizations. This guy is one of the best fed soldiers the North has? Yikes! He looks like he is one (American provided) vitamin away from fainting.

Im not entirely sure. It is only an assumption i have based off the current politics between the north and south. They have trade embargoes and sanctions placed on them. Nothing is going into the north without being heavily scrutinized. In my opinion, North korea is desperate to catch up to the current world trends or risk losing out on technology and human advancements.
