Wow, this room is well decorated. The color coordination is awesome. Finally, a room that looks like a furniture than a nuclear power station.

Very good idea with the listening lounge and I respect Paul saying that the difference between extraordinary, expensive and much cheaper, well designed system is about 20%. Not many people realize that making a stereo system a bit better at some point means 2-4x the money.

Gorgeous room, Paul! Great color scheme. Regarding the false ceiling, my biggest concern is vibration. Providing downward pressure of some kind on each of the panels can help with low frequency vibration that usually the biggest problem. Got to come by and check it out some time.

Exactly how I would have my listening room in an alternative reality. In fact it's somewhat similar, but adding a few feet to the width and especially length would be ideal for me to possibly reveal better imaging. Fortunately five bass traps keep things well controlled and I'm a happy bunny willing to accept perfection doesn't exist. Congrats. You still need a more comfortable centre seat though.

Big shout out to the designers. Wonderful job. The room is acoustically symmetrical, too

Really cool! I remember listening in this room with the Colorado Audio Society. If there was no need to display the gear, would you have the source components along the side wall, toward the back, connected with unbalance cables?

Just an observation: If first reflective point is like a bank shot in pool, it seems like the first reflective point is around the lights area. An area where the walls are bare of room treatment.

Paul, just an observation. I’ve probably watched the majority of your videos. You often point out that you use nothing more sophisticated than an iPhone to record those videos. That’s absolutely fine. Their video and audio reproduction is more than good enough. This video, recorded in your dedicated listening “listening lab”, sounded dull, muffled even. It didn’t sound natural. Not like I would expect your voice to sound if we were conversing in the same room. Were you employing different recording equipment? Or is that the way your listening lab is designed to sound? I’d love to see a similar video, recorded upstairs in your listening lounge. Keep up the good work. Most of all:- enjoy the music.

It would sound even better if you take white silicone and put it on top of the metal A/C vent to dampen it. There is always room for improvement.

On the basis that Paul invariably knows much better than me about most things my takeaway from this is that reddish wood and bright red furnishings are about to become attractive & fashionable choices for stylish rooms! ✌️😂

I didn't expect to see the exposed wood or laminate flooring either side of the carpet thinking that it would be reflective as the sound bounces off it. Would a fully carpeted floor be better?

I know it wouldn't prove or disprove anything but it would have been nice to have something playing through the system in this video

My room is about the same size - where can I get those side(and back) panels?
@sergiofernandes20725 сағат бұрын
Hi Paul, you said the electronics room is just behind the camera, did you mean that the room is open on that side like is this a room with 3 walls and where there should be a 4th wall its just open? Im asking because i was thinking to make a 3 wall room so my projector screen could be viewed from anywhere in the basement, but not sure how this would affect sound quality in the main listening position.
@BB..........Сағат бұрын
Why position the speakers on a short wall instead of a long wall?
@marcbegine5 сағат бұрын
Hi Paul, could you please explain what the sound and acoustical influence of “passive loudspeakers” could be on the overall music quality in “THE SOUNDLAB”? Do You use a Subwoofer in the back again?

There’s no way it sounds remotely as good as the old IRS setup did unless ps audio exists in some magical place where the laws of physics don’t apply. Paul claiming the new speakers sound as good as Arnie’s makes me lose my respect for him.
@nathanevans62774 сағат бұрын
The IRS are 40 year old technology. Speaker and material technology has moved a very long way in that time. Plus Chris is a genius. He and Paul didn't rush them onto the market, they took half a decade fettling the design. They used the IRS as the goalposts. I'd be surprised if the FR30s aren't better.
@raykuiper49793 сағат бұрын
I am afraid, you might be right, the Inifinty had a soundstage, in a width the AR30 can not provide
@nathanevans62773 сағат бұрын
@@raykuiper4979 narrow baffles tend to image better. This is one of the reasons that the FR30s are probably better. The IRS had to be wide to limit dipole cancellation.

Everything I have ever read about room acoustics says you don't want the room to be totally dead. Might as well listen in a anechoic chamber. I've been in several and they are not pleasant.
